Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!
About Mrs. Kiwi

I Love Uma

July 19th, 2007 @ 2:07 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

I saw the coolest thing on Daily Candy this morning: chalkboard vases! Available in three different sizes, and starting at $40.00 each, it seems a little pricey for a centerpiece holder, but it can act as a menu or even just list the names of guests on it!

The site, I love Uma, has some great gifts that are a little off-beat, like these collar stays (which I had never heard of before the wedding).

These collar stays are magnetic and come with small magnets to keep the collar stiff. $25.00 for a box of six, it would make a great gift for the hubby to be, if he wears collared shirts!

Unfortunately, the site keeps slowing down due to too much traffic, but once you get a glimpse, it’s great!

Very cute idea! But for 40$ a vase, might as well DIY! Get a vase at a local craft store and use chalk paint to paint it (You can get this type of paint at Home Depot). Once it dries, you’d be able write in chalk!

Make it for a fraction of a cost!

You could probably DIY those for less. There is Chalkboard paint available. I think that would be a neat way to do the menu!

Yep, I saw a clip on Martha Stewart’s website about using chalkboard paint, which comes in lots of colors now besides black and green.
