Wedding Gown Worries Gone!

July 19th, 2007 @ 4:36 pm by Mrs. Eggplant

I fell in love with my dress again. smiley1042

Anyone that knows me will tell you that I am about as decisive as a five year old in a toy store. I seriously change my mind about EVERYTHING and it has been quite stressful during wedding planning. Just today, I emailed Mr. Eggplant to ask him if it’s too late to make changes on the invitations…. which have already been sent to the printer! Ack. So, you can imagine just how many times I questioned my choice for a wedding gown…. even after I made the non-refundable purchase!

Last Friday, I had an appointment at Alexandra to look at some accessories. While playing with the headpieces and hairclips, I also got a chance to try on the sample of my gown again! Once I lifted that dress over my head, all my doubts flew out the window.

Well, all except one… I’m still worried that the train isn’t long enough, but it’s too late for this indecisive girl to do anything about it now!

So here are a few shots of the dress! (Mr. Eggplant: Please do NOT read further! Thanks! [Heart] you!)

A close up shot of the bustline. Lots of sparkle!

The back of the dress with lots of little buttons and a few silver embellishments down the train.

As much as I love my dress, I LOVE my veil even more. It’s a cathedral length veil by Jennifer Leigh. The veil is cut to curl softly over the shoulders and it’s soooo light and delicate. I would wear it to work if I could. Heh.

A few of the pieces that I tried on. Freshwater pearl tiara and silver bracelet by Christina Garcia, flower hair pin by Erica Koesler. I didn’t end up purchasing any though.

I loved this bracelet by Christina Garcia! Sadly, out of my budget so I left it at the shop. (Please don’t mind the hairy arms.)

Your dress and veil are gorgeous!!! Your fiance is going to flip when he sees how amazing you look.

I can totally relate with being indecisive– I’m incredibly so and wedding planning has brought out my worst indecisiveness. I’ve second guessed every wedding decision I made, every deposit I’ve put down. It’s driving me crazy!

Your veil is very pretty - it looks very sheer and lightweight. I love the detail on your dress too!

I don’t know what your budget is, but this might be in it, and is a similar style:

Miss Eggplant - I tried on that dress, too. I really liked the style, but did you think the beading is too scratchy under the arms?? The lady in the shop said to put clear nail polish on it, but I don’t want to be uncomfortable. What do you think??

Your dress is really pretty! I know the feeling I had to fall back in love with my dress too.

LAGirl23: Hmm, I didn’t think about the beading! The sample at the store felt fine and I didn’t notice a thing, as most of the crystals were smooth and the silver thread was soft. hopefully it’ll be ok at the wedding because it’s too late to change my mind now!

Miss Eggplant, what brand of dress is that? It is beautiful. Are there more shots of you wearing it? Your camera is covering it up!

Beautiful! How much do her gowns run?

Good point on the underarm beading. My gf had such a rash on her inner arms from rubbing against the armpit-area beading. It’s a weird thing.

i thought the same thing about the rhinestones under the arm. but if you’re comfy, then that’s good.

btw, i LOOOVE your gown! it’s gonna look gorgeous on you! and i really like the white flower and that necklace. didn’t dig the tiara so much though. from afar, it looks like a plain headband.

can’t wait to see more!

hm: i think the price depends on how much embelishments or draping fabric you want on the dress, i’d guess around $2500-$5000? Mine was on the simpler side and i got it at a trunk show so they made the pattern custom to my measurements. i’ll have minimal alterations, which will save another few hundred.

when i went back to the salon, they were selling the sample that i tried on for $1000 off the marked price.

I wonder if those embellishments are heavy. They look perfectly right for your dress. Without the buttons and the silver adornments, the dress would still look lovely. The adornments however made the dress look sophisticated yet elegant.

The hairy arm is very intriguing. I wonder who owns that arm. But yes, the bracelet is beautiful. It completes the whole wedding wardrobe.

I think you forgot to show us one thing – your wedding shoes.

The veil looks beautiful and the dress is gorgeous. If your arms become irritated by the beadwork, just dance all night with your hands in the air!

hehe, j/k. I hope it doesn’t bother you though, pretend that you’re running around during the second fitting ;)
