Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

A Potter-ful Wedding

July 20th, 2007 @ 6:04 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

I’d like Weddingbee readers to know that we are not alone in our love for Harry Potter. A couple in Portland, Oregon plans to marry at 7pm tonight, and have a limousine take them to a nearby bookstore at 11:30pm to pick up their copy of Harry Potter.

The bride, Courtney Lanahan, is a great fan of the Harry Potter series, but had no idea her wedding would fall on the release date! Lanahan’s sister mentioned possibly stopping by the bookstore on the way to the hotel, but fearing Courtney’s non-Potter fan fiance would say no, she just casually mentioned it.

Then, trying to be slick, fiance Shawn Gordon arranged for them to stop by to get her book. After realizing how much planning was involved in a sneak Potter attack, he had to let Lanahan in on the surprise. As a wedding gift, Barnes and Noble will give them the first place in line, and the first book distributed.

Lanahan, afraid of angry parents and children (as a teacher herself), was pacified when Barnes and Noble insisted they would make an announcement early in the festivities, so no feelings would be hurt.

What do you think of this?

In other Harry related news, my book is “in transit”. As of 4:36am, it was in Los Angeles with its destination scan completed. The truly frightening part? There is no arrival date! (imagine the Psycho shower sound- ree-ree-ree-ree)

I too am a Harry Potter fan, and a bride :)
My package had no delivery date on it so I called UPS, and apparently I wasn’t the first .. the woman told me that it had been a Crazy Harry Potter day!
Anyway, she said it had no delivery date because they were all being delivered to your local post office distribution center, and that it would be delivered by the post office tomorrow!!!
My post man doesn’t come until 3 PM on a good day, what am I gonna do till then!

Haha I called UPS about my book! :D I totally know how you feel. The funny thing is we had another UPS delivery and when I saw the truck from the window I screamed and went to the door but it was another package.

Guys, I’m so bummed. I was talking to the UPS lady about Potter and she was all, the post office will distribute them tomorrow! And I said, well, I work in an office and it’ll be sent there where we don’t accept deliveries on Saturday! She said, “Yeah, but they’ll either just leave it there (!!!!!!!!!!!) or take it back to the post office.”

So, the book I ordered to be delivered to me- so I don’t have to go get it- may either get stolen from outside our office, OR I’ll have to go pick it up. Good job, barnes and noble!

UPS says my book is out for delivery (said that yesterday) and my delivery date is July 21. ….

If it’s “out for delivery”, is it on a truck? And if it’s on a truck for 2 days, isn’t it taking up space? And if it’s taking up space, why don’t they just deliver the thing?

I know I know…they’d be sued and all that for delivering it early…but I want my book!

That is awesome and so cute! I wouldn’t be mad if I were a customer there and I would calm any kids around me if they got upset :) I’ll be leaving in about an hour to go get mine, have fun to everyone who is reading it tonight!
