Flowers in Champagne?

July 23rd, 2007 @ 5:52 pm by Mrs. Raspberry

By now, I am sure you have all seen the little teas that open into flowers (I posted about them a while ago and used them at the tea I hosted for my bridesmaids).

While scouring the web this morning, I came across these flowers that are put in a glass of champage or several other cocktails…

They are really beautiful and would be fun for a cocktail hour or a speciality cocktail at the bar. They have a raspberry/rhubarb flavor to them and can be eaten. They are packed in syrup and are $11 for 11 flowers. The website is Wildhibiscus.

They also feature several drink recipes and ways to use the flowers… I love the idea for the mojito…

Total bonus: hibiscus has whollops of vitamin c! It’s my favorite tea, my dad used to make it for me when I was sick. Very tart, though.

Saw these last week and have ordered 100 for our reception - I think a line of these in champagne will be a beautiful sight to greet our guests as they enter the cocktail hour! You can order bigger jars of these for a little less $/blossom. I’ll let you all know how they turn out.

These are beautiful! Lowy, when’s your reception? I’m thinking of it as well - mine’s 10/5.

Seems like an enormous waste of good money. Seriously.

Maybe ok for really cheap champagne/wine to doctor it up. Yeah, the foodies in my circle would DIE.

Oh thanks for posting this. I’m throwing a Hawaiian themed bridal shower and this may be a cute addition!

Christine, my reception is on 9/29 - so cutting it a little close for you, but as soon as I get the flowers I may try sampling one to see how they really taste!

You can also buy hibiscus flowers to eat from Trader Joe’s if you have one in the area, same as any other dried fruit. They’re pretty tasty (and I’m sure a lot cheaper than this product). It’s an interesting idea for sure.

I was going to say what Dani said. Maybe someone should try it with the TJ flowers and see if it rehydrates when you put it in champagne…

Looks pretty, but how many people actually eat the flower?
