July 25th, 2007 @ 3:43 pm by Contests

This DIY boxed invitation entry comes from An’s Hawaiian nuptials!

For our 2007 Hawaiian wedding, I just wanted to share my very favorite DIY accomplishment for our wedding to-date: Our boxed invitations.

I purchased everything separately, from clear packaging, to the boxes, to the starfish, to the cane paper to the clear labels for our addresses. I had my invitations printed up (by mygatsby) on pearly white cardstock and adhered it to the pearly seafoam cardstock.

Additional elements - Real 4-5″ white finger starfish (ebay) was glue dotted onto the cane paper sash, then tied with mason line to invite package where cane paper (paper.com) sash was cut to hold together the invite, RSVP Hawaiian vintage postcards that we customized with our rsvp message and address ( islandartcards.com), map created freehand with Adobe and printed up on postcard cardstock, and hotel resort business cards requested for hotel contact. These were then boxed, clear package sealed, stamped and then off to our wonderful guests.

For our save the dates, we sent out DIY message in the bottle invites on our yachting engagement reception as a precursor to our tropical destination wedding this fall.

Enjoy! Our guests most certainly did.

Wow, I love that RSVP post card idea. I bought a few of those vintage Hawaiian postcards myself to decorate my room with the last time I was there. Did you just print the clear labels from your computer? What font did you use?

I’ve been looking for the sash like yours. Where on paper.com is it? I can’t find the paper sashes.

L - we printed the labels on a laser printer, the curly font is Scriptina.

Tracy - the paper is available on paper.com, but I manually cut them into sashes for the package. Yes, a labor of love.

Those are some cool invitations. I really like the photos of them. The one standing up in the sand looks really neat.

awesome! we’re using postcards from islandartcards.com for our rsvp too - two of the wahine ‘aloha’ ones since 1. the colors go, and 2. we’re getting married on the big island and they aren’t island specific.

Ho`omaika`i!

Boxes were from http://www.papermart.com. They came packaged with the jewelry cushioning too, so that was a great find. The clear envelopes for the boxes came from http://www.clearbags.com.

Hope this helps!
