Last Chance… Part II

July 25th, 2007 @ 2:45 pm by Mrs. Onion

I already shared part of our weekend in Vermont (the hair and make-up trial). Now I want to share the fun stuff! We had lunch at Adrianas, the restaurant that is hosting our wedding reception and tasted a new salad that will be replacing their “house salad” for our menu. It’s a grilled pita salad with tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, calamata, olives, feta and romaine — I wish I’d taken a picture because it was SOOO good!

After lunch we popped into our baker to see if she had a cake stand we could rent, and then we heard a noise. Mr. Onion looked left and right to find out where it was coming from. And then we saw a Ferarri! Wait…then two, three, four. They just kept coming. They turned right up the Church Street Marketplace (which is usually for pedestrians only)!

There was even a Lotus or two as well. It was a car show! We had no idea it would be happening but it was so much fun.

A few more photos:

Mr. Onion and me at the top of the marketplace (that’s the Unitarian Church, not ours).

Our Church just off the marketplace:

And there was even a beautiful car parked right outside Adriana’s!

And finally Leunig’s Bistro — the best french restaurant in town! Our first trip to Burlington in 2005 we stayed for 3 nights. The second night we ate at Leunig’s. It was so good we went back our last night there as well!

Wow, your post just made me so nostalgic for Burlington. I went to UVM and spent 4 years there! I love all your posts about it, and I think it’s wonderful you’re getting married at the Unitarian Church. Vermont is amazing. Leunig’s is outstanding. I used to waitress at Halvorson’s at the top of Church near the fountain you’re standing next to.

Hi Techie Bride — I’m actually getting married at the Congregational Church just off the marketplace, not at the Unitarian Church. But Burlington is fantastic — I do agree! You’ll just have to go up there and visit. I’d highly recommend the Willard Street Inn for a romantic trip! Thanks for sharing.

I was there that same day! Well I live there so I am pretty much down there every day….but we are at the Ferrari show every year (fiance is a big car guy :) ) He was at his bachelor party in Montreal and I was shopping in Ann taylor when the cars starting coming so I called him to tell him he was missing it….he wasn’t too happy…just thought it was a small world!

Very small world. Glad to know there is another Vermont weddingbee reader out there! Nice to have an audience who knows just how great it is up there. Maybe I walked right past you.

We have a Lotus dealership 10 min from our apartment - it’s pretty cool!

Techie Bride– I’m another bride getting married in Burlington (fiance lives across from Battery Park). We’re actually considering Halvorson’s for the rehearsal dinner. We love the hidden terrace in the back… who knew?

Sarah-They do wonderful parties on the back terrace! I used to work all the graduation parties and had my own grad party there in 2000. Love the massive tree growing up through the back deck! Tim Halvorson is the owner and is a wonderful guy who will treat you right and go all out.

Ah, I love church street! =) What a small world, I spent three summers at UVM and walked down to church street almost everyday. =)
