Wedding Day: Part I

July 25th, 2007 @ 12:50 pm by Mrs. Tomato

I’ve been contemplating on how I can share my wedding day with you all. I don’t want to miss any details, and yet I don’t want to make it too long to read in one sitting. So I’ve decided to divvy it up in parts, and share my timeline with you as I go along. Creating a timeline was a headache and it took me two weeks of revising as I kept remembering things I had forgotten to add. Hopefully mine will make your planning go a tad smoother!

I strongly recommend creating one weeks in advance whether or not you have a coordinator…not only is it helpful for your vendors/bridesmaids/groomsmen (and the occasionally forgetful groom), but it kept my mind sane and I never had to wonder, “Did I forget to do something?” or “What am I supposed to do next? Where am I supposed to go?”

Morning of…

7:00 - Wake-up call for Bride, wear button-down shirt; gather overnight bag, emergency kit, purse, shoes/jewelry/veil

7:20 - BMs meet at Alice’s house

7:30 - BMs leave Cupertino to pick-up Bride; wear button-down shirts and bring dresses/shoes/makeup

8:00 - BMs meet Bride at home in Foster City; head to Lavish Hair & Makeup Studio

-At 8am, they still hadn’t arrived, and I was kind of wondering where they were. I ended up making myself some toast and was eating it when they called and said they had arrived.

-Here is my bridesmaid Alice, scared that I was going to kill her for being 15 minutes late. I was actually nonchalant, since I had scheduled tons of time in between our schedule “just in case” something went wrong (I’ve heard stories about brides with flat tires).

-Here I am, sleep-deprived and laughing as I get into the car. My contacts usually irritate me after 10 hours of wear, so I decided to wear glasses until the last possible minute (before I had makeup on).

9:00 - Bride and BMs arrive at Lavish.

-As it turned out, we were ahead of schedule here! So we stopped by Le Boulangerie in SF (one of my fave bakeries) for coffee and nourishment…

-This bride did not care about her diet that morning. I ogled the pastries before finally settling on a salmon-caper-cream cheese sandwich. Mmmm…

9:30 - BMs begin hair/makeup with Annette Avila, followed by the bride

-Alice is getting her hair done as I’m taking a picture of her. I had no idea my hair had gotten so long! Good thing, since curling it makes it shorter.

-My hair looks crazy here. Annette, the hair stylist, is setting in the curls.

….To be continued! laughin029

hehe, it would’ve been cool if your hair was like that for the wedding. reminiscent of the old chinese dynasty movies where the pricesses had such elaborate hair-dos.

I had one master schedule for the week leading up to my wedding. I broke down the wedding day schedule for the bride’s family and the grooms family. I made copies of each and gave them to key people the day before the wedding. As far as I know it helped and no one complained (to me) about not knowing when they were supposed to show up for pictures.
