Hair Trials…

July 26th, 2007 @ 8:32 am by Mrs. Peppermint

Going into these trials I didn’t know what to expect. Do I have them copy an exact look or let them do their magic?? Do I ask them to try multiple looks??

Well, I basically chose to go with the flow. My first trial was with Amy at Salon 119. She was very nice and open to my ideas. She perused the packet of pictures I brought and tried about five looks. Here were my top two:

Look # 1:

Look #2: (please excuse my about to blink eyes!)

The next day I met with Christina at Spectrum Salon. She looked at the pictures and gave me her opinion. After looking at the dress she felt strongly that an updo would be the best route. She said she’d go with whatever I wanted, but her opinion was to do a loose updo. I told her to go with her gut–and let me tell you, I was really satisfied with the result.

Mr. Peppermint came along and was having fun documenting the look from every angle! :) Christina commented how well behaved he was–though we both knew it was because he was well occupied with the new Harry Potter!

Here is the look she created:

Which look do you prefer?

I like the look by Christina from Spectrum Salon the best. But then, I’m biased, since I think the low chignon look is the prettiest out there (that’s how I’m wearing my hair). :)

I really like #1. The last one is also great though.

They are all great for different reasons. The first seems more romantic and wispy. The second seems to contour your face better but the back seems a bit dull. The last is more fun. I think I like the first the best though!

You look great in all of them, but the last one is my favorite!

The last one! Number 1 is a little too “Class of ‘98 prom”-ish, and number 2 looks nice in the front, but sort of poodle-ish in the back.

I really like the last one as well. It suits you!

2 or 3. I’m partial to 3 because I’m wearing my hair kind of that way too. Depends on if you want cascading curls or not. 1 is definitely too messy looking.

2 or 3, but I am particularly partial to 3.

I like number 3 the best. Where did you get that pin in your hair? I love it~

like the back of the last one, but i think the front is a wee bit poofy… but i must be blind or something bc no one else seems to think so!!!

I like 1 and 2 from the front, and 3 from the back. if you like different fronts and backs, maybe you can do both?

the last one is my favorite. it really shows off your pretty face. there is not too much going on to distract.

I love the last one. Look #2 from the first day reminds me of a prom hairstyle from the 90s:P

the second one! it’s a lot more modern and updated. you look great in all the pics, but the first styles are a little dated in my opinion. you have the face shape and i would totally go for the second one!!!

Look #3 is divine! Classic, elegant, and unfussy.

They all look great, but the last one is my favorite. Also it seems like it would stay in place longer, so less to worry about. I like the hair ornament a lot - where is it from? Also, I love your blue shirt. :-) Pretty as a picture!! (Can you say that when it *is* a picture?)

here is my critique:

(1) too casual and loose. i feel like it might fall off after 2 hours.

(2) the back view is stunning but is too made up for your wedding dress. however, the front view needs more volume. it’s definitely a prom night hairdo.

(3) my favorite overall because it’s perfect from al sides: perfect volume in the front, very romatic on the side, and not too made up in the back. goes very well w/ your wedding dress. it’s something it would expect to see on the oscar/emmy red carpet. plus, your big smile on the last picture makes me think you prefer it the most too. =)

#1, with more of the front pieces pulled back. It’s got a “Pride & Prejudice” look to it that will go nicely with your gown :)

Salon 119 #2 look is PERFECT!!!! And OMG I love your black top in the second hair trial… Miss peppermint has got class!

Totally unrelated, but I think about you bees in my day to day wedding planning (pathetic I know)…

We are using vintage stamps for our invites to give a certain feel about our wedding, and the ‘California’ stamps that we are using look pretty perfect for a Palm Springs wedding. We got all of our stamps on e-bay for dirt cheap, and with the configuration of stamps it took to get the correct postage each invite is a work of art - If you are interested in going that route I think that this stamp is perfect

I like number one, I think the last one although pretty, made you pretty head into an odd shape..I do not think that will photography well. You have such a gorgeous face I say capitalize on that and stick w/ a lose romantic look like one offers you..

Beautiful wedding dress! I think #3 will look the best with the dress. I like #2 a lot, but #3 is so soft and elegant.

Good luck with the choices!

I love #2. The other one’s look more likely to fall and lose their curl.

Yes, I think the last one is the best. The middle one looks like it is going to come undone. I like top one looks lopsided.

I love look #1 from Salon 119, but I think she left too much hair loose - I would have her pull more of it back so it looks less messy at the front. But that bun is just awesome, I am stealing that pic for my hair trial!

i really like look #2 with amy. i think the front looks good with that bit of height and the curls are really well placed in the back.

i kinda felt like #1 and 3 looked too messy in the front.

I agree with Laura S. I really like #1, except there’s a bit too much hair hanging where your bangs are. I would think that no matter what you chose, it would look good!

first of all i love your hair color so natural and pretty.

i like the way #1 looked from the front but didn’t like the bun too much

#2 is really nice from the back but not the front so much.

could they be combined?

I think that the second one looks borderline messy with all the curls, but could work if it were done with more care & placement… that said, the first and last looks very nice too. I think I join the bunch in saying the last one is my favorite. You have the prettiest hair!

†he 3rd one is WOW and a good combo of specific curls and here-and-there piecey. and i think it will hold up the best after several hours.
