About Mrs. Bell Pepper

I did quite an investigation when it came to planning our wedding in the Mid-Atlantic area, checking out banquet halls, museums, historic mansions, an aquarium, pretty much every location possible for a wedding. :) I missed a few hidden gems, such as the location of this beautiful wedding taken by photographeer Kenny Kim. The Pleasantdale Chateau is a beautiful historic estate located in the West Orange, NJ area. I love all the details of the estate, especially the reception area and the 40 acres of formal gardens. Here are a few photos from James and Grace’s wedding.

The bride had such a delicate white bouquet and I love the background contrast in this photo.

The bridesmaids’ bouquets were also very gorgeous..

The cake is absolutely perfect. It almost looks like a wedding gown wrapped up in lace, flowers and pearls.

Ooh, delicious, raspberries floating inside champagne flutes.

The Pleasantdale Chateau is amazing. I really would have liked to have had a wedding there but they didn’t have the available dates and pretty doesn’t come cheap. But absolutely gorgeous grounds…sigh.

I attended a wedding at the Pleasantdale Chateau a little over two years ago. The venue is beautiful if you can afford it.

The food is supposed to be awesome. They bring out so much food during the cocktail reception that no one is really hungry for dinner anyway. I just went there last week to get a quote - WAY over my budget, but it is so beautiful that I’m pretty sure it’s ruined me for all other reception venues.

I only looked at Pleasantdale and Crystal Plaza so far. I live in DC so it’s hard for me to go up to Jersey and check out places. I’ve been majorly disappointed with the reception venues I’ve seen on the web in Northern NJ. Please leave a comment on my blog if you want to talk more.

I had the pleasure of being married at the Pleasantdale and I can tell you that it is worth every last penny. Not only is it beautiful, but the food and service are subperb!!! I truely was made a princess. It has been 5 months and people are still telling me it was the BEST wedding they had ever been to …including their own children’s!!! IF, that is a big if, you can afford it there is really no comparison to anywhere else. It is the Plaza of NJ!

I just recently booked my wedding at the Pleasentdale. I cannot be more pleased with my decision. Aside from the venue, upon meeting the staff, I instantly knew that I made the right choice! The staff is so professional..some of the most talented people I have ever met! I cannot wait to work with them in planning my big day. This place is unbelieveable!! There is no doubt in my mind that my wedding will be one of the most days ever!

Kenny Kim does an awesome job….
BUT as I have left a comment on a different thread of blog,
I’m sad to see what fame can do to a person! I haven known Kenny personally since college and had no doubt about using him as our wedding photographer.. When I contacted him about doing our wedding, not only did he NOT congratulate us about our future wedding but he totally acted as if he didn’t know me..! A friend of mine, also contacted him for their upcoming wedding, but again he never replied back to their emails. Unless you’re “important” in his standard, he’s not going to give a time of the day!

I don’t mean to impose, but Iam am currently looking for a place around NJ. Pleasantdale is the only place I really like so far but all I keep hearing is that it is pricey. Can anyone tell me what the cost is per person for a summer wedding? I am dying to know, because I considering booking it.

I was also looking at the PleasantDale does anyone know the prices? I don’t want to fall in love and then can’t afford it, and I don’t want to waste their time either.

Thank you

@Chipmunk: Chipmunk,
I got married at the Pleasantdaole in May of 2009. Words cannot describe how Iamazing this day turned out to be! Not only was this place breathtaking in every aspect, the staff here is exceptional and commits to your every need. The food is amazzing, cocktail hour especially.. and overall your guests will be taking about your wedding for years! Its been six months since my wedding and I have people still taking about how wonderful it was! I look at 12 catering halls before seeing this one and I can tell you, there is nothing like this place! The price varies depending on the day you choose. Holiday weekends are a lot less then a saturday evening because since these days are harder to book, they give you a little bit of a price break. With taxes and gratuity we spend $220.00 pp for a friday evening. Saturdays are the most expensive and Sunday afternoons are a lot less then friday. They give you a GREAT MENU to choose from and the cocktail hour is absoultely AMAZING..TONS OF FOOD!!!! If you have any questions you can email me @ kscherma@gmail.com I would be more than happy to answer any of your questions!

Happy planning!

How many guests did you have? I wouldn’t mnd doing it on a Sunday of Memorial Day weekend maybe. I would hate to do it on a Sunday where guests have to go to work the next day, but that could be beneficial money wise ha and thank you so much for all the great info you gave me. It really helps. I’m in the early stages of planning just more browsing and getting figures together.
