Make Me Over At Home!

July 30th, 2007 @ 11:29 am by Mrs. Violet

One of my best friends, also my BM, came over yesterday to do a first trial. It was very exciting as I’ve never been made over before, nor am I a big make-up kind of girl. On most days, I leave the house with nothing on… and on less lazier days, I add a bit of eye shadow and powder. My BM did the whole works on me and it took a little less than 20 minutes.

Before…

I really didn’t like the lip gloss we used. I don’t like the redness. I envisioned something more towards the brown family. Overall, I love how everything turned out but we need to find another lip gloss.

We went out to eat some Thai food and when I got home, I took another picture without any lip gloss on. I like this much better. Hey, if all else fails, I’m going out on my wedding day with chap stick!

Your BM did a great job! I think it looks very nice and natural– it brings out your features very nicely but doesn’t look too makeup-y!

I actually REALLY like the lip color your BM used. It adds some nice color to your face, especially for all the pictures you’ll be taking.

I absolutely agree with Karen, the lipgloss looks fantastic! Obviously I can’t judge what a more brown color would look like, but nothing makes you look just a little washed out. The color adds a focal point since you aren’t doing superdramatic eyes. :)

She did a great job! And the lip gloss is fantastic. Its so good I would wear it every day if I were you. I know it can be a shock seeing a color where you are used to none, but it is really really pretty.

The KNOT has a how to on a nude lip color you can try…

I believe the steps are:
1) blot your lips with a combo of concealer and chapstick
2) line with clear lip liner
3) use lip brush to apply nude lipstick
4) blot and apply nude lipstick up to three times
5) finish with clear gloss

I did this for a wedding recently and LOVED it. Even when the nude eventually faded, it still faded to a lovlier shade of what my lips already are.

She did a great job! You have nice pale pink lips already–how about trying a creamy pink lipstick to polish your look? I also suggest a rosier blush over your cheeks too.

I like the lip gloss, but if you aren’t comfortable with it, I say go for something you’ll like better. But it is a nice color on you, even if it is a teensy bit bright.

Another vote for the lip gloss and a vote for a brow shaping. Remember, what looks “too much” in real life will be just right in pictures. Your skin looks lovely, btw.

i also vote for some lipstick. colored lips look good on you! i agree w/ uisinger (#11) that shaping/plucking your brows would be a great touch. something so simple like that makes a big difference! try it; you won’t regret.

Lip color really brought out your nice lips! Maybe consider a subtle lip stain (could practice with a lip pencil) so it won’t wear off?

I was also going to suggest shaping your brows, I think it would really polish off your look. Your skin looks amazing, and I think it is nice to have a little colour on one feature of your face, and it sure looks great on your lips! your cheeks would also be a great feature to highlight with a rosier blush.

I agree with you, Miss Violet. I love the overall makeup, just the lips are a little too pink for my taste. Try a lighter pink or a translucent gloss!

I think you need SOME lip color - anything, whatever you like but don’t go too bare - remember pictures don’t always show you exactly as you are!

I like the lip gloss color, really. Definitely think about picking something with at least a little color!

I would definitely recommend getting your brows shaped and waxed. It would look so good with the natural eye makeup you have. I really like the lip gloss on you! But, I know how it is to not feel comfy with a bright color. Why not try a more nude/pink version or a toned down version of the gloss you have on now? I agree with everyone else about a more rosier blush! Try orgasm (the color) by Nars!

If you do decide to go with a lighter, more natural lip color, I would think about playing up your eyes a bit more. You want to have one feature get a little more focus, so maybe you’d be more comfortable with more dramatic eyes (darker eye liner, etc) instead of hte rosy lip gloss…

Miss Violet, I love it! I honestly really like the lip color, but you also need to feel comfortable. Play around with some different options and see what you think. Best of luck- you look great!
