As I mentioned before, there are some challenges with the seating arrangement at our reception venue, the Wellington House and we are going to have to split our guests up into 3 different areas. We knew this going into it, but we just fell in love with this venue and we decided to just work with it as best we could.
We met with the reception coordinator and the head chef when we were in Syracuse earlier this month to work out the details of our menu and such. It just so happened that when we were there the main dining room was set up for a rehearsal dinner they were having the next day. I was happy about that because the last time we saw this place was when we booked it last summer, and there were no tables set up. It makes it a lot easier to visualize things now.
This is a shot of the main dining room, which will seat 70 people at round tables. I love the chairs! There is definitely no need to cover them. I also love the stained glass windows and woodwork in this room. We are going to set up a “sweet heart” table for ourselves right in front of this window.

We worked on our wedding programs this weekend. I am almost ready to start printing them, but we have one minor glitch.

Program 1
Can you see it? (Don’t worry, I didn’t think there was an issue either)

“Add a memorable touch to your wedding with unique favors that match your theme.”
I picked up the dresses on Friday, and they look fabulous! She pressed them for me, so the silk dupioni is beautifully crisp rather than very wrinkly like in my previous post. The quality of work is good, and she nailed the design from one image each of the front and back that I provided.
Sorry, LA girls, Laura Bravo is out of north OC, but worth the drive. My two local bridesmaids who live in K-town didn’t mind the two drives they had to make down on Saturday mornings (no traffic time!), though. I found a few other seamstresses closer to LA proper, but they were around $75-90 for labor on the dresses only. Still not bad at all, for a custom dress, but we couldn’t beat $50 per dress. One caveat, though, the cost will definitely depend on your specific design.
She prefers to measure your girls (or you) herself, but she did make my NYC bridesmaid’s dress from measurements her NYC tailor took, and we e-mailed to Laura. She then has the dresses pretty much done a couple of weeks before the wedding, and your bridesmaids come in again to try them on. Ours fit my bridesmaids perfectly, and the only adjustment we needed was to the length of the sash, which she left long on purpose in case we wanted to tie them into bows as I hadn’t specified. This saved my girls some money, too, since alterations are pretty much included.

Today my bridesmaids and I ventured into the wonderful world of Martha Stewart. We are planning on baking cookies for our out of town guests, and I will be placing them in pink gable boxes.
Our first attempt was a disaster. Our first clue should have been the 9 cups of flour that was required. Needless to say we will now be serving them at the wedding brunch as breakfast pancake flavored cookies. The second attempt went much smoother. We had a plan. This time we were determined to produce cookies and not pancakes disguised as cookies. We were girls on a mission. And failure was not an option. Enter Martha Stewart.
And a few hours later, of course with tons of girly talk in betwen *ding* cookies are done! I was really pleased how they turned out aesthetically. We added edible silver balls for an understated sparkle, and the royal icing was really great to work with.
Will they rock your cookie world? Probably not. To be quite honest they still have the makings of a wannabe pancake. Darn that underlying pancake taste. But factoring look and taste I am quite satisfied.
I’m kicking myself that I never learned to sew. If I had, I’m certain I could create the ultimate ring pillow without breaking the bank. The pillows at Wedding Tulle would certainly have been my inspiration. Made from materials like felt and suede, these little squares are far from boring.

Mr. Blueberry forgot to wear a white t-shirt–luckily, this is the only picture where you can really tell!

On our trip to Burlington recently, we met our minister for the first time. I was nervous because we booked the church, mailed the invitations and made all our plans without having met or spoken to her! Much to my relief she was fantastic!! We brought some ideas with us and she loved them all. She encouraged us to make the ceremony as personal as we liked — music, readings, vows — whatever was “us.” She was pleased we weren’t planning a 10 minute ceremony like a couple she’d just married a week earlier. She said “I wondered why they were even here — they should have gone straight to the reception!”
Here is where we’ll stand in front of the pulpit:
Los Angeles is to Miss Eggplant as Vegas is to a gambling addict. It’s like a bad habit I can’t get away from. After living and working in LA for two years post-college, I have to admit that I fell prey to the nonstop nightlife and addicting shopping. I shopped like a bandit, partied like crazy, and lived to regret every minute of it!
Finally, So-Cal living got too much for my poor easily influenced self. I packed my bags and said goodbye to LA, trading my “wild” days for a responsible lifestyle, a bit of maturity, and a wonderful relationship. Coincidentally, I have a love/hate relationship with that city. And, of course, my bridesmaids planned my bachelorette as a weekend getaway in the City of Angels.
It’s almost symbolic, really, like one last hoorah before officially closing the doors on those two crazy years of my life.
My MOH send me an email yesterday letting me know that she bought our plane tickets to LA. I was so touched!! She has been a starving student for the last two years and I did not expect her to pay for a dime’s worth of anything, so I was incredibly humbled by her generousity.
Congrats to Tricia! You’re the winner of Pure Pearls’ Pearl Coin Earrings Giveaway!

I love living in the South. I love the traditions, accent, balmy weather, you name it! My favorite places are Atlanta (naturally), Savannah, and Charleston. I originally wanted a destination wedding in Charleston. I’ve only visited once, but I instantly fell in love with the architecture and charm of this city.
Imagine my surprise and wonderment when I discovered their regional wedding magazine. The cover nearly produced a whiplash-like reaction in my neck:
