I Can Never Win!

August 1st, 2007 @ 6:36 pm by Mrs. Emerald

Arghhh! My cousin pointed out to my aunt, who pointed out to my mom, who pointed out to me, that we have a typo in our invitation. A typo, as in, the DATE is misspelled. @#$%^&*!! I swear I checked that stinkin’ thing up and down, backwards and forwards, and gave it to no less than 4 other people to proofread. No one caught it. I did notice that the word looked a bit funny, but then again I always thought that the word looked funny in general (you know how certain words just look weird when written out?) Unfortunately it looked funny cuz it was WRONG. I Can Never Win! : wedding invitations Angry02 angry02 I posted my invitation design a long time ago, but of course the misspelled word was one of the areas that was hidden, otherwise I’m sure one of our readers would have caught it!

Oh well, too late to cry over spilled milk. Did you make any invitation blunders?

Oh that is the worst! Too bad they hadn’t just kept it to themselves…ha!

I’m sorry! Oh well! Try not to worry about it too much!

I bet it’s “forth” instead of “fourth”? Just a guess. My husband is always asking how to spell “forty” (no “U”)…

Our best man is a graphic designer (score!)

We had print press plates made, to use in his vintage press… to minimize the cost we had everything put onto one plate, which took a LOT more labor to cut and such (sorry Jay).

Problem, after all the work of lining up and cutting and assembling he noticed that we missed ONE letter in the street name on the information card - luckily it wasn’t on the wrap which was silk screened and print pressed

Our best man ordered another plate block on his dime to get the info correct (Wasn’t that sweet of him?)

An engaged friend of my fiance just got their invitations back… the printer screwed up and had their RSVP by date set for three weeks AFTER their wedding date!!! - Our little typos don’t sound so bad after hearing that :)

That sucks. I bet it was eighth. It would’ve been nice if your cousin didn’t mention anything to your mom.

I had a minor typo on my save the dates. I forgot to add a comma after “for more information (comma) please visit our website…” It bugged me but no one else noticed the mistake.

aww…try not to worry about it - honestly, most ppl wont pick the little typo up. On my save the date I put a little info on the back of it regarding an accomodation option - totally repeated myself in the last part - like you I re-read it and had other read it too - nobody caught it…nobody has said anything to me yet - but when I re-read it the other day I caught it…crappy, but try not to “sweat the small things”

don’t worry miss E! i doubt anyone else noticed. they’ll just remember how pretty the invites were and not what was misspelled. you can just tell people its “your” way of spelling 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd or 29th. ;)

I designed our invitations and did this nifty little thing…

7 Cocktails
8 Ceremony
9 Celebration

since we’re have a cocktail hour before the ceremony.

Probably is that I forgot to be “in the evening” or “pm” anywhere. Hopefully people realize there won’t be any cocktails in the AM.

I had a typo on mine. Not on the invitation itself, but the rsvp card. I had given it to people as well to double check the date, spelling and such.. but no one caught on until I received the very first rsvp in mail.

it was the word reserved - it was spelled “recerved”… but apparently no one notice it until i pointed it out. but still…

We had accommodations spelled incorrectly on our invite, but thankfully we caught it on the proof. But, it caused a TON of issues with the printing.

ugh. mine were 100% diy, including me printing them all. I had already put together about 75 invites totally together (w/map, response card, etc.) and discovered that i was missing the word “OF” as in “the marriage of..”

i am so lucky that i hadn’t closed any of the envelopes yet. a lot of wasted time (especially since i took some time to cry and then had to get more paper). they went out two days behind schedule, but still over 7 wks before our date.

i was a BM in a wedding a couple of years ago, and i noticed that “fourteenth” was spelled wrong in the date. i was almost going to tell the bride, but then i realized that nothing good could have come of it. all the invitations were already sent. hopefully, she never even noticed. and even if she did, she didn’t have to know that anyone else noticed it!

i DIY’d my invitations and when I printed the map insert, there was a stray splotch of blue. but it wasn’t too noticeable (even though i noticed it) so i didn’t let my perfectionist self reprint them.

The address of the church was wrong. Luckily, most people already knew where the church was but some were unable to attend the ceremony due to my blunder. They were able to make it to the reception though.

I frequently mistype “of” as “or” because of keyboard proximity, and them both being real words. luckily, as far as I know, they were all caught before I printed.

I love this invite-typo and all. Who cares? Love is imperfect too.

I accidentally put the address of our reception as 50 receptionhall drive instead of 60 receptionhall drive.

fortunately, everyone still showed up at the right place!

No invitation blunders YET, but multiple issues with the Save the Dates. First, despite submitting all of the information correctly, the printer managed to get my fiance’s name wrong (not just a missing letter, but the WRONG name). Plus, we had ordered our lined envelopes with our return address on the back and they neither lined them nor included the return address. On their second try, they forgot the return address again. Third try was fine and we finally received the cards a month late.

I initially thought our wedding planner was crazy to advise us to order our invitations six months in advance, but now I see why!

A friend of mine - her parents are Julie and Nathan….her sister’s invite said it was from “Julio and Nathan”….and she was marrying a Latino so it was even better….nothing like a GAY couple inviting you! FROM THE SOUTH!!!
