New Feature: Ballot Box!

August 1st, 2007 @ 2:19 pm by Ballot Box

We received an email from reader Connie yesterday, asking us to help her decide between three wedding dresses.  We realized that there must be many brides out there who need a little help with certain wedding decisions. So we’re launching a new feature called “Ballot Box” where readers help brides decide on wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, favors, invitations, and more! :)

Let’s kick off our first Ballot Box post and help Connie out with her dress dilemma!  These 3 dresses all fit so well, she’s had a difficult time choosing just one.

~~~
Hi there!
What do weddingbee bloggers and readers think of strapless gowns vs. ones with straps/sleeves? Can you help me decide on a gown (I have been terribly indecisive lately). Any opinions would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
Connie
oh my lord those are beautiful.
i can understand the dilemma!
i’m going to vote for the last one (it looks like mine a bit i must admit) :)
good luck!
LS says:
I am personally a fan of straps, but mostly because I have a large chest, so feel more comfortable wearing a bra. Keep in mind that most seamstresses will probably be able to add straps or a halter to any strapless dress (this is what I am doing with mine). Good luck!
Amy says:
All of those are beautiful dresses. Tough choice. I voted for the Grace but I also really like the shape of the Lynnette. Grace won out because the Lynnette straps sort of make it look like your bra is showing (because the fabric is so different). But they are all beautiful. good choices!
Pencils says:
I like dresses with straps and sleeves, because I have a big chest, so mine had tank straps. But I like strapless on other people, and out of those dresses, I like the strapless one best. However, I also like dresses with straps and sleeves just because they’re different–sometimes it looks like every bride has a strapless gown these days. Although that might be changing, the new collections already have more non-strapless gowns than when I started looking a year ago.
I think that, more important than the straps, is those dresses have interesting draping that may flatter some bodies more than others. I think the most important thing is which looks best on you, not whether it has straps or not. Unless they all look great on you!
Didi says:
Hi Connie! I liked the front of the Lynnette the best but I voted for the Grace because of the back. They’re all beautiful though!
p.s. I LOVE this new feature!
6.
Victoria says:
i like the lynnette
imo it would have helped to know the body type of the bride….
7.
kaitlin says:
I love this idea, but I think it’s VERY difficult to pick a dress on a model instead of on the real person. What looks good here may look hideous on one person, and GREAT on the next…..
8.
angie says:
It’s currently looking like the wedding bee readers aren’t helping much (it’s a 3 way tie).
I love the first one, but I agree with Kaitlin.
9.
Tessa says:
dude. Awesome feature.
Can’t get over Lynette… soooo beautiful.
10.
Anne says:
Just be careful with the corset back! I’ve known people who’ve lost weight before the wedding and then couldn’t get the dress to stay up b/c the corset couldn’t get any tighter!!! I think the Sarah is a beautiful dress though. I like the Lynnette from the front, but the back is odd with the straps totally not matching the style of the rest of the dress. Also, it appears that the straps are a totally different color than the dress which could just be my computer!
Jess says:
The Ballot Box is such a wonderful idea!
I agree with Victoria and Kaitlin - it would help if we knew a bit more about the bride and wedding style. I voted for the Sarah - such a beautiful blend of simple elegance and so feminine!
12.
cs says:
Lynette, but with the straps the same color as the gown (and hopefully neither as yellow as the picture shows!)
13.
Lou says:
This is a great new feature!
14.
Lori says:
The Lynette was pretty, but I hated the back. The fabric make it looks like her bra is showing! I picked Sarah instead….it has straps which makes it stand out more than the basic strapless.
Of course, I’m biased - my dress is a halter.
woman007 says:
I agree with Kaitlin. I don’t know what the bride looks like in real life. My opinion would not mean much to her.
16.
Jessica says:
I like both the Lynette and the Sarah.
I’m not a big fan of strapless gowns. I’ve seen too many brides trying to hike them up through out the night, or “spill over” the back of them. Very few figures are flattered by strapless.
17.
Amy says:
for the lynette, it looks like the straps were added from the back due to different material and color - very unnatural. i voted for SARAH!
18.
jen says:
I agree with some of the previous posters regarding chest size and straps, but I have to believe that the bride would feel comfortable in all 3 of these and perhaps feels that all 3 look good on her. If that’s the case, than I’m voting for Grace!
19.
Elizabeth says:
They are all so beautiful!!! My vote is for the Sarah!
20.
eisor says:
This is a great idea for a feature, but I agree with some people above. It’d be nice to actually see the dresses on the person as opposed to the model. I know I saw a lot of GREAT dresses that look HORRIBLE on me.
Connie says:
Hi everyone! It’s Connie ;)
These were my 3 favorite dresses and they all fit so well that I’ve had a really difficult time choosing just one. I’ve put money down on the Lynette already but asked them not to order it just yet so that I could have a little more time making my decision. I would be ordering the dress in Diamond White so the silver beading on the Lynette straps (which are stunning in person) wouldn’t look too odd.
This is a HARD CHOICE. Seriously.
23.
k-ann says:
Lynette is my fav! I love the back!
24.
Sarah says:
I want it on the record that my vote had nothing to do with the name of the dress. Merely coincidence.
25.
Andrea says:
I love the Lynette. The other are very pretty but they look more standard. Lynette is a WOW !!
26.
MissChris says:
I love the Sarah but I also like the front view of the Grace.
BTW, I love this new feature.
27.
acklesgrl says:
Lynette :)
28.
Allison says:
Lynette definitely. I love the flow of that dress.
29.
Kelly says:
I love the idea of a ballot box, but it would be much easier to vote if we were given certain paramaters. For example, the bride is short waisted, her wedding is indoors and the theme of the wedding is “rustic/fall/romance” For example ;)
30.
ML says:
haha, this feels like the time i took mom, sis and friend out to the salon and asked them to help me decide on one of three dresses too. each of them chose a different one!!! X)
31.
thea says:
i love the lynette style. i think it looks tons better in the diamond white too. i think you should stick with your first instinct.
i agree that this is a good new feature. and that maybe a bit more info would help with the decision. (ei: in this case, body type, feel/style/colors/theme of the wedding itself, etc)
32.
cubangirl says:
I love the new feature, but totally agree that we need more info to make a good decision. I love the Lynette, though!
Raselshoe says:
the last one–love the delicate train and classic front!
