I’ve already seen this video on a couple of sites this morning, but it was so funny I had to share. :)

Funny and so true. No one would ever dare charge you for items for a regular party what they charge for a wedding. Imagine wanting to hire a DJ for your pool party and being quoted $1500 — would never happen! But for a wedding…apparently the tuxedo the DJ wears is enough to justify the quadruple price tag.

LOL… I did that… I called bakerys and asked for pricing for cupcakes and delivery. When asked what it was for, it was for “a party.” When they asked again when heard where it was delivered to, one had the audacity to say well, now that you say it’s a wedding, we have to charge you more. Needless to say we did not use that bakery!

This happened when I was getting quotes for a 30-minute ride in a horse drawn carriage. For a regular ride around the block, it’s $50. For the same ride when you’re wearing a wedding gown, the price jumps to over $400!

Oh my! Imagine the man in this video as a woman. That’s me. Talking to all sorts of vendors. I was crazed while I was trying to secure some vendors. and I did swear at people too. :/

That’s exactly why we chose the vendors that we chose. We did a lot of Web research and any pricing we saw on a site we made sure was the same for us even when we mentioned it was for a wedding. Anyone that then offered to send us the “wedding version” of what they offered promptly got crossed off our list.

The only exception is the bakery. While they do have a cheaper per-slice price than what we are getting, I know that building a huge monstrosity that has the ability to rest perfectly on top of the tier beneath it is no small task. (I did consult a baker friend of mine who agreed it was a difficult task and worth every extra penny I’m being charged.) The bakery did offer to come down on the price if I wanted to “waterfall” my cakes - each separate from the others instead of one cohesive unit. But then it wouldn’t be “wedding cake” would it? ;)
