Mrs. Kiwi's Picture
Mrs. Kiwi, Los Angeles Age and Occupation in 06: 27, Bookkeeper Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, P.E. Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!
About Mrs. Kiwi

Now that I’ve ordered my Scarlett Alley orbs, I’m free to look for other things to put the rings in. Don’t you know this is my modus operandi? Settle on something, order it, and then keep looking anyway? I don’t know how I managed to stay a one dress bride, I tell ya.

Anyway, I found this really cute log keepsake box on Uncommongoods. This would be perfect to hold your rings as they go stumping up the aisle.

This is what uncommon goods had to say about the good ol’ log:

Each of these log keepsake boxes is unique by nature’s design. Carved from solid logs with the bark left intact, the boxes safely hold your treasures under the attached swiveling lid while never really leaving the forest. Perfect for adding understated natural beauty to your favorite indoor spaces, the log boxes are an ideal gift for those who love the outdoors but have a certain fondness for small human-crafted trinkets.

It's Log, It's Log - Big And Heavy And Wood! : wedding los angeles rings Z102635 z102635

At about three inches high, this genuine wood box would be a welcome addition to any tree or woodsy themed wedding! For $30.00, it’s not too bad for a ring vehicle. :) That’s how I rationalized my orb. Hehehehe.

Your subject line got me singing along! Everyone needs a log!

That website is great, too. I have found a bunch of fun things on there. Thanks for sharing!

Nice stump! love the rationalization of the orb. mine was “it will hold my rings all the time, unlike some pillow…” ;)

(and im glad im not the only one that keeps looking after a purchase. i now have 2 garters)

My nephew (who is 4) will be our ringbearer and originally I intended to do something different like the orbs or this log, but he called me (with his mom’s help) to ask if I could send his pillow early so that he could start practicing with it - how can you say no to that super cuteness!

Log, log, log, log; it’s better than bad, it’s good!

I think that’s an adorable box, but I think you could get something cheaper (and support fair trade to boot!) at a place like Ten Thousand Villages. I like this cinnamon bark box from Vietnam (http://www.tenthousandvillages.com/catalog/product.detail.php?product_id=4256) and this lotus flower box from Indonesia (http://www.tenthousandvillages.com/catalog/product.detail.php?product_id=7848).

And I evil for giving you another place to look?

“I want to dress my log as a bride!” :D

OK, Miss Kiwi: stop shopping! :D One thing I learned while wedding planning, that once I (finally) made a choice and bought something, I had to stop looking or I’d go crazy with second guessing. Although, I kind of wish I had gotten the orb myself instead of the pillow. Now I have this pillow that I don’t know what to do with, but I can’t bring myself to toss out. Guess I’ll have to put together a keepsake box and put it in there. At least it only cost me $11 (custom made by a nice lady from eBay.)

Dude. Super Cool. Why? Why do you show me this after I have a solution!?! (thank you). This is like when I got the Pottery barn catalog with the log candles after I got the centerpieces figured out. While I am so glad to be ahead of the curve could the curve get ahead just for my wedding?? I mean c’mon, am I not the center of the universe?

Kidding, of course. LOVE the find - thanks.
