About Mrs. Eggplant

We’re Engaged!

August 7th, 2007 @ 3:56 pm by Mrs. Eggplant

Ok, so we’ve been engaged for a while now, but the teaser pictures from our engagement shoot are here and I am thrilled beyond words with how they turned out!

We had SO much fun with Ray and Erwin, so don’t mind if I rave about these guys nonstop. Seriously, I’m still giddy from the session, which was the highlight of the entire wedding planning process thus far, and I cannot wait to see the rest of the pictures! smiley1049 For two hours we traversed the Embarcadero area of San Francisco on the hunt for perfect lighting. We posed and Apertura clicked away. They asked us to kiss for the camera quite often, so Mr. Eggplant was a pretty happy camper since he normally gets no lovin’ from me. smiley308

Well, Mr. Eggplant wrote a commentary on our engagement shoot and he’s much more entertaining than me, so I’ll let him share our e-session from a groom’s point of view: * * * * *
People.

“Eternal Flame” or “Girl, You Smell Fine”

One of my groomsmen said this reminds him of a Korean soap opera. I can see the resemblance if not for the fact that I’m not crying and have fobby hair. This picture also reminds me of the Phantom from POTO– I’m lurking in the shadows… ” Nighttime sharpens, heightens each sensation… Darkness wakes and stirs imagination…”

“Dreamland” or “Caught in Windows Pipes Screensaver”

I loved the location of this shot. Growing up in the SF Bay Area, I had always seen these pipes from afar, but I never took the time to explore the square where this is located. The water isn’t exactly clear and pristine like the Carribean Sea, but it’s tolerable. If you look really closely on the left side, you’ll see feet in the background– those belong to our admirers, hoping for their own “step” toward fame. I don’t know what I’m talking about.

“Merry Go Round” or “Where’s the Bathroom?!?!”

The photographers had us walk around and around this pathway. It was interesting to see how this turned out because I had imagined that we would be facing the camera. Then again, who wants to see my face when you’re trying to figure out how cool it would be to sled down this ramp? Isn’t that what all guys are thinking?

We're Engaged! : wedding engagement photography san francisco Z10331103 z10331103
“From a Distance” or “Goodbye Kiss.”

I like the texture on the ground. It’s like an ancient pattern I once saw on a website somewhere. Oh yeah, Potterybarn.com. BTW, we kissed A LOT during this scene. Ah, good times, good times.

We're Engaged! : wedding engagement photography san francisco Z10331104 z10331104
“Yellow Sub” or “Thinking of Wii”

The photographers found this treasure right outside of the entrance to the Embarcadero Center. It’s amazing how they can find ordinary places and turn them into a magazine-shoot-like location. Our pose reminds me of the Nickelodeon TV show, “David the Gnome.” It’s a cartoon about gnomes that nuzzle their noses to show affection. I’m just like David; except without the beard, beer belly, and funny hat.

We're Engaged! : wedding engagement photography san francisco Z10331105 z10331105
“Walking on the Sun” or “Walk to Remember”

This wasn’t really a walk to remember. They had us walk no more than twenty steps, but I’m impressed with what they did with it. One interesting tidbit: I am not looking at my fiancee. Instead, I am looking past her into Slanted Door (a restaurant in the Ferry Building). I was eyeing someone’s crispy imperial rolls. Yumm-O.

We're Engaged! : wedding engagement photography san francisco Z10331106 z10331106
“Ferry to Marriageville” or “After 30 Years of Marriage”

This may be one of my favorites. Not because it’s black and white and that equals artsy. But because I look so cool and unattached. It’s funny because I’m exactly the opposite! Hah! How’s that for deception?! My name should be Cool Guy and I’m a Decepticon that transforms into a cool Asian guy. Seriously, this is one of my favorites because it looks like we belong on the cover of 7X7 magazine.

“Commitment”

Maybe one of my all-time favorite pictures. I like the urban-feel of this shot accompanied by the bridge in the background. I think we will always remember where we came from. San Francisco will always be very dear to our hearts and it’s pretty cool that we are only one block from where it all started: Boulevard Restaurant. And guess where that arrow is pointing to? Boulevard Restaurant. Coincidence? I think not. =)

(Note from Miss Eggplant: Boulevard was our first date restaurant). smiley1049

Miss Eggplant here again! So, what do ya’ll think?

I’m quite impressed with the teaser pictures because I really feel that Ray and Erwin captured the essence of my relationship with Mr. Eggplant: playful, affectionate, and really, just two people enjoying each other’s company; like best friends! Well, best friends that make out in public.

Through the wedding planning process, I’ve found that my favorite vendors are the ones that I’d love to be friends with outside of wedding planning. Usually these are the people that are most passionate about their professions, who invest themselves in building relationships with their clients. By spending just a few hours with the duo, I can tell that Erwin and Ray love meeting new people, care deeply about what they do, and will go the extra mile to get that one perfect shot (even if it means being a body contortionist). They even arrived at our meeting location before our scheduled time just to scope out prime photo locations. And the icing on the (wedding) cake? They are also extremely personable and simply a joy to hang out with. I’m sure I’ll have more raves after the wedding, but I can confidently say they are worth Every. Single. Hard. Earned. Penny.

After our session was over and all was shot and done, the four of us had a chance to share a delicious Mediterranean meal together at Faz off the Embarcadero. This was my favorite part of the night because it’s not often I get to chill with vendors on a personal level outside of all the wedding related stuff.

Thanks for the great company, guys! We enjoyed ourselves immensely. I can’t wait until we hang out again in October!

Love the pics. They’re artistic, but show candid emotion at the same time. Very cool that you had a meal with your photogs.
