About Mrs. Peppermint

Resemble Rapunzul

August 8th, 2007 @ 6:29 pm by Mrs. Peppermint

I’ve never had long hair. Even when I was a kid, my hair rarely got past my shoulders. An inch or so below my chin seemed to be the golden spot. Sure, one day I would have luscious long locks–but that day was not today….

Well, I’m finally ready. Or at least I think I am. I keep saying “just two more inches”…but as the hair continues to grow, my greedy self keeps wanting more! Having the wedding helped me set the December deadline so I could have a goal. But, as the clock ticks away, I”m a little worried that my two more inches won’t be enough…

Given this rational fear, when I had my hair trials, I asked a few questions–most importantly: how fast does hair grow (I got a few different answers, but generally a half inch every 4 to 6 weeks). That means, come December I should be just shy of two inches. However, in light of my two-inches-is-not-enough fears, I looked for some more answers…

1. Extensions :

Resemble Rapunzul : wedding hair peppermint Hair

If you want length and you want it fast, this is the way to go. This method can be costly and potentially damage your hair. (click here for some more info) (above picture found here)

2. Hair & Nail Growth Pills :

Resemble Rapunzul : wedding hair peppermint Hair 01

Readily available, these vitamin supplements promise to double hair and nail growth through providing important vitamins that stimulate growth. Seems like a good option, but I’m lucky if I take a daily vitamin…

3. PureOlogy Shampoo:

Resemble Rapunzul : wedding hair peppermint Hair 02

100% vegan, this shampoo promises to help take care of color treated hair as well as the overall health of the hair. One of the stylists I met with told me that it would promote hair growth, though I didn’t see any evidence on their website. Worth a try?

Are you growing out your hair? Any tips? Any risks involved in the various quick-fix answers?

I gre my hair for about 7 months bfre the wedding, and by the time it came, my hair was about as long as yours is in your profie picture. Haha. I still loved my hairstyle though, so having a shorter style isn’t the end of the world by any means.

I cut my hair for Locks of Love in March, thinking I had plenty of time to grow it long again for my wedding a year and a half away. Unfortunately, it’s not growing as quickly as I would have hoped. I’m hoping to have it at least an inch or two below my shoulders…

I’ve had my hair the same for years and won’t be changing the length for the wedding, but I am growing out my bangs. I know I want an updo but haven’t done any hair trials yet, so without having chosen a specific look, I don’t know whether I’ll want bangs or not! So I figured I will grow out the bangs and if I decide that I don’t want them in the end, I’ll chop ‘em off. Otherwise I can leave them long and then chop them off after the wedding.

Keep in mind your FH loves you (and your hair) just the way you are! Ppl often wear hair styles for so many years it becomes part of who they are - seeing yourself with extensions may seem glamorous but at the same time you may think (20 years down the road) “what the heck was I thinking”?

I agree with Christine. A friend of mine is getting married a few months before me and she wanted me to get extensions (”You could use them after for your wedding”). I didn’t get them.

They felt like there was a nest in my head. Note: I tried one piece, and multi-piece sets. Plus, I really want to be able to look back and know that it’s ME in the pictures. I don’t even dye my hair or anything, so maybe I’m jaded.

However, if your hair is really short, you like to get glammed up, and you can take the nest feeling, then go for it!

fiber is what helps your hair & nails grow, so just consume more fiber. you can get it from taking TUMS, eating almond. that’s what my friend’s doctor advised her.

I just cut off my hair for Locks of Love, but I still have 9 months for it to grow back, and it’s currently at my shoulders.
I’ve never tried the vitamins myself, but I have heard that they make ALL your hair grow faster, which makes sense. Just keep that in mind — I had a friend who said it caused the hair that typically stays one length (like arm hair) grow longer. That’s a pretty steep price to pay.

I’m growing my hair out for my wedding, even though I typically have shorter hair. I can’t wait to cut it off when I get back from the honeymoon.

It won’t look weird then. I grow it out every couples years, just to get the thrill of chopping it all off. I’m weird. But my hair it thick and heavy and in this heat…it’s killing me.

My friend is an ob-gyn, and she swears by prenatal vitamins to help your hair and nails grow strong. I imagine they’re similar to the vitamins you mentioned, but you can get them cheaper if you just look in the generic section. I’m going to start taking them. My hair never gets longer than an inch or two past my shoulders, and I would really love to be able to twist and curl it for my wedding in April.

I just have to say that I tried pureology…not for hair growth but b/c I heard good reviews…and I hated it. The smell literally smelt like dog shampoo/wet dog to me and I could smell it even after i dried my hair….it also made my hair incredibly dry and brittle. I know so many people who swear by it and love it so I don’t know what went wrong with me but it was just horrible.

Also…I love the pic of you in your pop-up bio…it’s so chic, so even if you don’t meet your goal take heart b/c you look really great with short hair.

Although my hair grows really fast. I much rather have it all off like I do now, especially since it is the summer and sooo very hott. Ocassionally, I feel the random need to want long locks. So the event that that does occur I just buy hair.

One of my favorite updos is actually for short hair. I kept trying to figure out why I couldn’t get my hair to look like that and it’s because my hair is way too long.

It might not be exactly what you’re looking for, but it proves that there really are options for short hair girls!

Don’t do the extensions. They itch like crazy.

Don’t laugh, but my friend used horse shampoo for awhile. Your grows back really strong, very healthy, and faster. It sounds weird, but it seems to work!

My friend did extensions for her wedding and looked incredible, although in her case it was because she has really really fine hair. Hers weren’t permanently attached to her hair, instead they were on little combs. She got them at the salon though, and got them dyed with the rest of her hair, so they math perfectly.

I have fine hair too, so I am super jealous. She wears them all the time now.

I have to stick up for Pureology - it rocks - I love it! If you color your hair it also helps your color stay true longer. My sister has had good luck getting it on Ebay for cheaper than you can purchase it elsewhere.
