About Mrs. Kiwi

Eva Again

August 9th, 2007 @ 8:28 am by Mrs. Kiwi

While I’m not sure of the timing of my hair, I DO know the style I’m going for. Luckily, I will be able to get my hair set into foam rollers the day before the wedding, so that way I won’t have to sit under a hot dryer in the early morning hours before the ceremony.

The look I’m going for is a little laid-back, mostly down with the front pieces pulled back slightly. A lot like this, actually:

Here’s a clearer shot, Eva Longoria with Maria Bello.

My hair lady and I are planning on creating this look with large rollers, so I have a bit more curl and bounce. I think I’d like a side-part, with the pieces pulled back at an angle. I don’t really want a clean look, I’m picturing more of a tousled look to it, hair more down than up.

This way I get the really annoying bits put up (I hate having hair in my face), and still get the appeal of a “down” look to it. Of course I’m going to need to attach my hairpiece to it somehow, and have the little pieces unnoticeable.

What do you think of getting your hair started the day before your wedding? Am I crazy? Don’t forget, we have a 9:30am ceremony!

You are not at all crazy. I have normally straight, thick hair, and if I want curls that will stay, I HAVE to let them set over night. First a wash of the hair, then some mouse, then watered down mousse into each lock of hair before being curled by a curling iron. Then the hot curl gets wound around a curler or a rag or itself to be tied/fastened/pinned/whatever before my whole head is wrapped up in a cloth so I don’t mess it up the night before. Maybe it’s a little crazy, maybe it’s a little extreme just for a Halloween party (oops, that’s me, not you), but it produces good results, and they stay all day.

If I were you, I’d practice sleeping with a cloth wrapped around your head now so you get used to falling asleep with it on. Good luck!

If I had a 9:30 AM ceremony, I think I would be dressed and primped the night before, and I would sleep standing up…

Hi Miss Kiwi! I’m also leaving my hair down for my wedding and everyone’s telling me I’m crazy (”a bride should always have her hair up!”)…..but I’m just more comfortable that way. I LOVE a lot of Eva’s hair styles and the one you chose is gorgeous! And no, you’re not crazy to want to do your hair the day before…not unless you can find a stylist who will do your hair at 4am!

Seeing as how you have a 9:30 ceremony, I think it would be crazy to NOT get your hair started the day before. I think that style looks fabulous and will look great on you!!

for a 9:30am ceremony, it totally makes sense. and having the curlers on the night before will totally help. can’t wait to see it!

i’m thinking of the same hairstyle…. i love the fact that it’s down, but you don’t have pieces in your face, which means that i won’t have to touch it at all. and it’s not a complete half-ponytail, which makes me feel like i’m in 4th grade.

my only issue with this hairstyle is…where do i put my flower clip/hair accessory? on the back of the head up high, where the hair is actually clipped? but no one will really see it. or tucked behind my ear?

what do you guys think? i’m not having a veil.

definitely start the night before for a 9:30 wedding. i was in one that started at 11 and the bride had been up since 4 for hair/makeup and getting dress…when we showed up at the house at 8 she wasn’t the most friendly of people. lack of sleep will do that. lol.

i would see if you can sleep comfortably with foam rollers in your hair before or at least figure out a way to position your head with pillows so you can. i can’t sleep with rollers since i’ll wake up during the night to take them off if they’re bothering me. just a tip!

oh, and i so have a girl-crush on eva longoria. her and jessica alba. i steal their hairstyles/makeup ideas all the time.
