Our Ceremony Programs

August 9th, 2007 @ 5:57 pm by Mrs. Jelly Beans

One piece of advice for all the brides to be out there if you are going the DIY route like I did. If at all possible, work on the programs early. I repeat, early!

I thought I had everything planned out. But you know what, so many unexpected things arise that you have no control over. I didn’t anticipate that the church would take forever before approving our program. I didn’t take into consideration how long and time consuming the printing would be. I didn’t take into consideration the entire trial and error process. And lastly I didn’t anticipate that all my hard work would go down the drain due to an unfortunate cutting incident.

Why do I care so much that font colors match? Why doesn’t my template align? Why does my printer insist on eating my pretty pink paper? Why can’t I tie a ribbon to save my life? Why don’t I have any sensation left in my right hand?

Ingredients:

Square Luxe Cards in blush from Paper Source
(1) 1/8″ hole punch
5/8″ Satin Brown ribbon
12ss Swarovski crystals
Glue
(1) Ink Jet Printer
(1) Mr. Jelly Beans

and oodles and oodles of chocolates, time and patience! :)

The only problem with printing them early is that — inevitably — there will be a change. Someone can’t fly in due to weather, or the flower girl gets sick, or another bridesmaid needs to be included. It happens. Anyway, if you anticipate a lot of potential variables, I recommend preparing everything early and than pressing “print” just a few days pre-wedding.

how did you loop your ribbon through? did you punch a hole at the very center of the spine?

Thanks everyone! I will post more pics soon. I swear weddingbee is my daily therapy. :)

Miss Snow Pea- I made 2 tiny holes on both ends with my 1/8″ hole punch. I didnt punch a hole in the center. I looped the ribbon through the holes, made a tiny knot to seal each hole then tied my ribbon. I am sure there is a better way to do this but due to my limited crafting abilities this was the best I could come up with.

Joanne- I bought the crystals from http://www.tamisplace.com. Free shipping too! I used a 2 way glue and tweezers to apply them. And just let them dry overnight!

PS: I have designed my programs early and printed the covers already, I put together some samples and got everything how I want it size/formatting wise and will change the wording and add the OOS when it is finalzied…hopefully that will reduce some last minute stress :)

Adonny- Thanks! :) I used Bickham Script Fancy and Beautiful ES for my fonts. I bought the Luxe paper in blush from Papersource. I used the crystal clear flatback. I bought the 2 way glue pen from Wal-Mart. Its 2 way because when its blue its permanent and when its turns clear its repositionable. Its worked really well so far and quite inexpensive.

Manda- it definitely will, it took me forever to to just make the template. So the fact that you have everything ready to go is awesome! :)

KDN- send me an email and Ill send you my template. Nothing fancy though I just used word. :)
