i just am curious about the photos. you say that the photographer has the rights to them? did he do them for free or something?

or is that common to not have the rights to the photos you pay for.

seems odd to me.

please tell me more about that.

Hi Lety — no, the photos weren’t free (don’t wish!). I think it’s pretty common for photographers to retain the rights to the photos. It’s like being an author and copyrighting… people can look at the book, but can’t redistribute it by making copies and such (technically). Does that help?

As for the posing comment, sadly I am not so good at this — just had a great photographer who told me what to do!!! I would have been at a loss otherwise!

oh yeah i guess that makes sense.

but can you do whatever you want with them?

or more importantly can he do whatever he wanted with your images?

i would’nt like someone doing that

Jasmine — I actually did blog quite a bit, but not much in the final countdown to the wedding or thereafter. I wrote about my dress, but showed no photos because it was a surprise for Mr. Lily! As for flowers, I wrote about looking for white flowers and pom-poms and such — it should be in the archives :-)

Lety — Yes, the photographer can use my images on his site or in a book or for contests… (as far as I understand) but I think that’s pretty standard. You could probably add specifications onto your contract if you wanted, I never asked because it wasn’t important to me. I have a disc with all of my photos and can print to my hearts content. Sergio knows I posted them here, but I couldn’t make a book and sell them or anything. That’s not likely anyway!!!!!

Here’s one bride who won’t trash the dress! How neat that this heirloom has been reinvented for each bride.

Hi Liz — I got married at the Westward Look Resort in Tucson :-) They were tough to work with, but it was so beautiful that we just went with it anyway!
