I Got My Shower Invite!

August 10th, 2007 @ 11:00 am by Mrs. Licorice

I had a small surprise shower back in May, so one of my bridesmaids is planning one big shower coming up soon!My best friend and interior design partner-in-crime created the invitations:

She picked the colors and pattern to coordinate with my wedding invitation. How cute!

It’s going to be held at Auntie Licorice’s house because said bridesmaid lives in Florida. Since this is my only big shower, there is not a theme associated with it, but I was wondering what creative ideas for themed showers Weddingbee readers have!

I’ve heard gift card themed ones are good. People gets you cards for movie theaters, grocery stores, restaurants, etc where you live. I guess they are really nice if your shower isn’t where you live (no heavy suitcases).

hm. i didn’t have a real theme, but the favors were all flower bulbs and chocolates. LOTS of both of them. and the prizes were all potted pepper plants and wine. my MOH explained that this was because I was a spicy bride and had a tendancy to whine!!! all in good fun though! We had a great time!

My Cousin had a “date night” theme. Everyone who came brought something they can do every weekend for one year! Football, Baseball, and Basketball tickets ( her friends were season ticket holders) batting cages, movies, miniature golfing, white water rafting, couples massages…you name it…they got it. The ones who came up with the most creative date night gift…got a gift in return!

the theme of my shower was coffee-related — which was fitting because we both love coffee & I was proposed to at a coffee shop. The invites involved coffee, it was held at a locally owned coffee house, and several of the “prizes” were coffee-themed. Many gifts were kitchen-related (coincidence or not, i don’t know) and everyone brought a favorite recipe.

i’m having a “date night” theme wedding shower too! it’s a couples shower for both me and my FI, so the guys (and some gals) were very confused about the theme… they thought they had to bring dates! it’s this weekend, so we’ll see if they actually “got” the theme.

The shower I threw for my sister was “Entertainment” themed Sort of like the “Date Night” ones you guys had. They got gifts from Zoo memberships, restaurant gift certificates, tickets to plays, board games (my sister LOVES them) etc. So much more fun for the guests too, lets them be more creative and they are geniunely interested to see what everyone else came up with.

Also made cute ticket invites to go along with the theme

Hi - I just came across this and saw that a few of you did a “date night” themed shower. We are hosting one for our good friends.. she liked the idea of it. What did yall write on the invitations so that guest understood what to bring?? We dont want anyone to be confused?! Thanks!!! Love your thread!
