Thank You Cards

As soon as the wedding was over, we went to our nearby Papyrus and ordered an address embosser from them. We ended up choosing a design that has an “L” (for our last name); our last name is on top and our address is circled around the letter. It’s a nice added finish to the envelopes that have our thank you cards snuggled inside. I wish I could take a picture of it, but sadly I am not talented enough to take a nice picture.

For the thank you cards, we went with Shutterfly note cards. 3.5″X5″ cards (box of 12). At $9.99, I think it’s a great deal and I love the fact that you can upload your own pictures. We haven’t received our professional pictures yet, but a great friend of mine has wonderful pictures that she has given us from the wedding. (You can see her work in my previous posts - Thanks Win smiley3010) We should be getting our thank you cards next week. Although it will be more than a couple weeks when our guests receive them, we hope they appreciate the special touch of having a photo from the wedding.

As far as wording thank you notes, we’re taking some tips from the web. About.com has great tips for various gifts such as: items from your registry, people you don’t know very well, gifts you received but they were not present at the wedding, etc. Here’s a example of a thank you note for cash gifts (which are especially common in a Chinese/Korean wedding):

“Dear Mr. Harry Potter,

Mr. Poppy and I wanted to thank you greatly for the check you sent for a wedding gift. We are saving to buy a new car, and your gift will help us reach our goal. We can’t wait to take you for a spin around the neighborhood.

Best wishes,

Mrs. Poppy “

Okay, okay so Harry Potter wasn’t a guest at our wedding but I’m currently reading it so I thought I’d throw it in there. smiley3010 It’s also very nice to let your guests know how you have/are planning to use their gift.

And thank you Weddingbee readers, bees and last but not least Mrs. Bee for promoting such a beautiful, supportive community of love.

Love,
Mrs. Poppy (and of course Mr. Poppy)

I love your address embosser — Can I ask how much one of those costs?

I debated on doing this and got lazy and didn’t order one. Then I had to hand to our return address on all of our thank you cards. What a pain. You are a smart lady for getting one of these suckers!
