About Beehive

Beehive

August 13th, 2007 @ 4:11 pm by Beehive

In today’s hive:

  1. Christine wants to know if anyone has ever seen a girl ringbearer. She already has one flower girl.  If you’ve seen a female ring bearer, was she dressed the same as the flower girl?
  2. bettina may have to push back her wedding date and/or do it in a different city due to unforeseen circumstances (losing their apartment and relocating for work).  STD’s have already been sent with the wedding 7 months away, so what should she do?  Send out an updated STD?  Or a we don’t know what we’re doing right now correspondence?  Any ideas for wording on either?
  3. future mrs. j.o.b. wants to line the ceremony aisles, the cake table (with a lot of petals), and have a mini toss with petals.  Is 1000 petals enough?  The purchase price is $59, so please let her know if you know of a better deal.
  4. Monica is looking for rhinestone initials like these for her bridesmaids’ bouquets.  She’s tried ebay but can’t find all the letters she needs.
  5. kat wants to know if anyone knows where she can rent a Delorean in or near the Chicago area as her getaway car?
  6. star_rotor is inspired by Miss Corn’s buttons post.  Has anyone ever made them and canyou  recommend a button maker that works well?
  7. Elizabeth is looking for a reasonably priced tailor in Manhattan to alter bridal shower dresses, bachelorette party tops, rehearsal dinner dress, and a brunch dress.

Christine, i’m using only girls at my wedding. They’re all wearing relatively the same thing regardless of what they’re carrying (rings, coins, bible, rosary, flowers). We had to get 2 slightly different dresses for the 2 flower girls because they didn’t have enough dresses of our first choice dress. But really, it’s not much of a difference at all.

Christine - I plan on having the FG and RG wear the same dress. They’re walking in together too.

Monica: I purchased mine from bouquetjewels.com, but they are not like charms; rather, they are soldered to sticks that go in the middle of bouquet. I have mixed feelings about this vendor though. I’ll be blogging about it soon. You can e-mail me if you want now though and I can give you more details.

Elizabeth, I had my wedding dress altered at Tammy’s Fashions at 38th and Broadway ((212) 827-0308). She was incredible!!! She does bridesmaids dresses as well. She charged $375 to practically remake my wedding gown–sewing cups in the bust and taking it in, taking in the bodice, taking in the hips, hemming the dress (which had to be done from the waist because of detail on the hem), and adding a bustle. And it was so well done. I hightly recommend her!

Monica, i had a tough time finding those suckers too. But i finally found this vendor called worldselection on ebay and he was very quick and easy and very accomodating. if you need several, just email him which ones you need and he’ll give you a bulk rate for shipping (rather than bidding or buying each one separately on his ebay store).

here’s the link to one of the items: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300102201450&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1

Amanda, I’d love to ask you more questions about Tammy. I tried to click on your name and got to your blog, but couldn’t find an email you button or anything. Can you email me at salley [dot] koo [at] gmail [dot] com?

bettina - the official wording for something like that is really stilted and formal: “[people who issued invitation] regret that they are obliged to recall the invitation…” Your first move is probably to decide whether the location or the date is changing–or both–before you consider how you want to phrase it. How you let people know would depend on the size of the guest list and your relationship with them. Anyone who might have gotten plane tickets is going to need to know quite soon. My gut reaction was to send a vistaprint postcard ASAP, but it might be more appropriate for you to call your people, he calls his people, the moms call their people, etc. As far as wording (and design, come to think of it), I’d make it similar to the original STD, so people associate them in their minds. If it’s moving, you could say something about your “exciting new opportunities in [location],” “we can’t wait to introduce you to our new hometown,” something like that. If it’s being postponed, I’d make sure to keep the message upbeat, no matter what, so gossipy older relatives don’t get any ideas! You can be totally flip and say “planning a wedding is hard work! We’re moving ours to [date] so we have more time to plan a party to remember.” Or you can be more honest, as long as there’s no way for a bitter old-maid aunt to interpret it as just being cold feet.

Has anyone used any seating planning software to plan what table everyone sat at?

Question for the Beehive -

I was wondering if anyone could give me any insight on printing programs on 12 x 12 cardstock. I had this great vision of what I could do with 12 x 12 cardstock until I realized most printers can’t even fit that size of paper into it. What do people normally do for this? What program should I use and where do I print it?

For those of you who DIYed invitations, how did you print on the envelopes? I can’t seem to find a template for an envelope as “small” as a 6×6. Unfortunately, paying for calligraphy is not an option.

Thx!

Question: I have 10 days til the wedding and would really like whiter teeth! Anyone have luck with anything? I want to try GoSmile, but it’s a bit out of my price range. Thanks!

Andrea- try crest whitestrips- also brushing with hydrogen peroxide or using it as a rinse (don’t swallow!) works well- it’s pretty much the active ingredient in the white strips

Sadoorea - If you go to your printer setup options, you should be able to choose a custom size envelope of 6×6. We did that and it worked great.

Christine: I was at a beautiful wedding recently where the ringbearer was a little girl. The bride had 3 little girls in her wedding, the 2 smaller ones were flower girls and the oldest was the ringbearer. The bridesmaids wore red, the ring bearer a white dress with red trim, and the flower girls wore white.

star_rotor: i made custom pins with my sister’s all-metal bench press. it’s way cheaper than ordering them from somewhere online! however, the presses are a *tad* bit expensive.

here’s a blog with some button press options:
http://craftster.org/blog/?p=10

doctor don’s buttons, badges and more sells presses, as well as make them for you:
