About Mrs. Peony

Photographers, Part 2

August 13th, 2007 @ 4:25 pm by Mrs. Peony

The search for a photographer continued. Unfortunately, Henry Chan was booked on our day; however, he recommended some photographers that were similar to his style. One of them was Angelica Glass. I love, LOVE her work. Go check out her website and you’ll see what I mean. We kept our fingers crossed while we waited to hear back from her. Alas, she was busy on our day too. It’s a freakin Friday in April! Why are all the good photographers booked already?

Another photographer that Henry recommended was Danny Weiss. Danny was very friendly in his emails, his enthusiasm and friendly personality clearly shining through. His prices are reasonable, with packages ranging from $2,750 to $5,200. He is free on our wedding day so we made an appointment to go see him. Here are some samples of his work:

The next photographer I found was Yun Gen Yang. I actually found him by accident, while browsing various wedding-related websites. After being disappointed with the high price tags that accompany most of the photographers I liked, the first thing I did was check out his prices. According to his website, his packages start at….$1,800. Photographers, Part 2 : wedding new york photographer Stunned08 stunned08 I couldn’t believe it - the quality of his work was similar to photographers who charge more than twice as much! See them for yourselves:

Yun is currently on a trip, but he replied right away saying that he’s free on our wedding day and he will get back to us with a package as soon as he returns. He was VERY friendly, probably the most of everyone I spoke with, asked about our wedding plans, visions, our interests, hobbies, etc. He also creates slideshow movies of each wedding/shoot, and you can really see a story unfolding as you watch them.

Which photographer do you like the best?

I prefer the second ones work. He is probably new in the business which is why he is cheaper then the other photographers. I say though whichever you mesh with would be your best choice.

Tough choice but I like Yun more. Plus can’t beat the price.

in addition to style/price, personality matters a lot too. gotta make sure you get along w/ the person who will be in your face the whole day! :) good rapture was what sealed the deal for our w/ our photographer (and she’s super talented of course!).

hi again.
i actually had sent email back & forth w/ angelica glass for engagement photos but she finally replied saying she was so tightly booked that she’ll do it only after reviewing photos of me & my fiance and tell her what we plan to wear & such and find us ‘unique’. She’s a great photographer but in the end, we decided to go with someone else because I felt strange to be interviewed by our photographer and not the other way around. Regardless, her work is truly amazing but I never bothered to reply after that email. -_-

I was looking for a similar style as you, and also called and got quotes from a number of the same photogs as you in NYC. Out of those that were available and in our price range, we loved Gulnara with Bloom Weddings and Agaton Strom the best. I think you would love Gulnara’s style (she has an awesome blog), she was great, but more expensive (but still reasonable) and my FI really liked Agaton, so we went with him. Plus, he threw in an engagement session and is so great with communication. You should check them out.

My vote personally is for Yun Gen Yang. Based on the photos you posted, I like the color saturation a lot better.

Like Brandi, I love the color in Yung’s photos. But both appear very talented. I’d meet with them in person, to see whom you “click” with the most.

Yun’s work is fantastic. I don’t think you can go wrong either way though. But Yun’s just jumps out at me more.

yun’s style is more interesting to me, but that really depends on what you are looking for. The fact that he can get those funky shots is really a plus– he can always do the more traditional stuff if you ask for it.

I LOVE Yun!!! We just had our engagement pics with him and he was so accommodating and nice. When we were booking with him he was willing to meet with us as many times as we needed to make us comfortable with using him. And since then he’s been really reliable, great at getting back to us promptly (which is a huuuge plus for me), and he’s just an all-around great guy. We took him to see our venue and he spent 3 hours with us just walking around looking at the different rooms. He’s so enthusiastic. I can’t say enough great things about him.
