B-O-U-Q-U-E-T Jewels

August 14th, 2007 @ 1:35 pm by Mrs. Petunia

Our latest Beehive featured a question about bouquet jeweled initials, so I thought I would share my experience purchasing mine.I decided that I wanted one letter each for my MOH, BM and Mr. Petunia’s female honor attendant, plus two letters for myself: one for my first name initial and one for my new last name initial.

I purchased them from Bouquet Jewels after coming across this vendor in a Knottie bio. I can’t remember now if there was a review or if the review was good/bad, but my own experience would earn them a C.

Each letter costs $12.95. When I made my purchase, they had a special promotion that netted me $12.99 toward my total bill. The shipping charge was $10. My first issue was that the letters took about 18 days or so to arrive, which in this day and age I find a bit much too long…

I noted right away that the box in which they came packaged was not particularly large…in fact, it seemed not large enough at all (length-wise). I was more surprised when I opened the box and saw these:

B-O-U-Q-U-E-T Jewels : wedding flowers ft. lauderdale Cookies

It seems like a lot of warning for something that didn’t seem very well packed in the first place, but okay.

B-O-U-Q-U-E-T Jewels : wedding flowers ft. lauderdale Cookies01

Above are two letters, in fine shape.

(Please excuse the dusty black table)

And here is the condition of the “E”jewel: broken. Also note that the wire posts themselves are not entirely straight — on any of them.

Okay, so my invoice says that one must call them within 24 hours of receipt to report damage and obtain authorization.

I report the damage and their response is this: “wow, they really need to be manhandled for them to break that way.” Argh!

First of all, I’m not crazy in love with letters period (though I guess they look fine in pictures). Then I’m told, basically, that I broke it, when the box is tiny, the bubble wrap minimal and the letters look dubiously soldered to their posts. (I speak for the ones I received and the way in which I received them).

I more or less communicated my feelings. I did receive a replacement, within about one week, so I can’t complain about that per se. But I’m just not sure these were my best spent $62…

Wow - thanks so much for the recap. They look very sturdy on the website, but I don’t think I am going with them after your review. Plus, they are kind of expensive. If I could find “inital” charms, my florist said she could tie them to a floral pick.

yours look very nice actually. i like how the actual metal overlaps in each loop. so yours is definitely a higher quality than others out there. (minus the broken piece :\) but as an accent item, i personally did not want to spend very much. i had a hard time just plain finding letters that i needed, but luckily found a vendor on ebay. mine are more like pendant necklaces and came on a chain. i’ll be pinning the pendant onto the bouquet wrap instead of showing through the flowers like yours. but for the price, i couldn’t find any better.

the ebay vendor is called worldselection. i just emailed him for the multiple letters that i needed. and i purchased 8 letters for $56 with shipping. it arrived within 4-5 days. packaging wasn’t very fancy, but these necklaces also aren’t as delicate as soldered metal sticks. here’s one of the letter pendant links: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300102201450&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1

I love the script look of them, but I’m so sorry to hear you didn’t receive them as you expected! It sounds like I am doing something similar to aoedorothee (great minds think alike!). I purchased small rhinestone letters from JeanM and I’m tying them to the bouquets. They were $5 each, and I got free shipping through a coupon I received from them. They seem sturdy enough to do the job!

Though I’m jealous now how pretty the script looks! :-)

Wow sorry that you had a bad experience with them.

My was experience with them was pretty good. i was able to get the diamond jewels at their close out price a while back each diamond jewel at 25 cent each that’s right 25 cents each. I’ve picked up everything they had 48 pieces which came out to $12 as to $12 per diamond. The bonus part was they came in the colors i needed (yellow and orange)

I also got the initials and my florist was pretty happy with the quality. He said the post is much longer then what he seen out there…

FYI… Jamali Garden has some rhinestone jewels but it was really tiny

I found a PERFECT sized one randomly on eBay–I lucked out becuase it’s not like the seller had the whole alphabet.

So, I recommend doing some research and maybe working with your florist–they often have ideas and connections one doesn’t originally consider!
