About Mrs. Radish

My Little Man

August 14th, 2007 @ 2:24 pm by Mrs. Radish

Mr. Radish is, well, “vertically challenged.” His license says that he is 5′8, but really I think he is 5′7. I am just a hair over 5′7 so I decided to go with flats for my wedding shoes.

I found this pair of lacey ballet flats from Report on Zappos.com for less than $50. I like that they aren’t so bridal looking so I will actually be able to wear them again. I am really trying to minimize buying things that I’ll only use/wear once. Also, they are extremely comfortable and they go perfectly with my dress. It’s almost like they were made for each other :)

Here they are with my dress at my fitting.

Does anyone else have a groom that is slightly shorter than you? Are you still going to wear heels anyway, or are you going with flats?

I’m seriously thinking about getting shoe lifts for the FI. They’re inserts that go inside the shoes.

Wow those shoes are perfect with your dress!

Height isn’t an issue with us–Mr B is 5′10″ and I’m only 5′ 2″!

Those do look nice!

I’m with Mrs. Blueberry - I’m 5′7″ or so, but my husband is 6′4″ so I didn’t even worry about heel height. I knew I’d look short unless I invested in some stilts.

We’re on the same wavelength Miss Radish-I’ve bought those same exact shoes for my dress so I won’t be towering over my little man!!

I’m on the hunt for flats too. Problem is, I wear a size 11, and it’s not so easy. it’s like the shoe Gods decided that gals with big feet don’t have good taste or something. I picked up some gold flats at Target a few weeks ago. Those might work (and I plan to use them after the wedding too) but the search is endless.

Oh, Miss Radish, this is a topic that speaks to me! ChicagoSteve is about 2″ shorter than I am, so I’ve been thinking about wearing flats or at most a 1″ heel on our wedding day. I rarely wear heels anyway, and I love ballet flats, not to mention that flats would be much more comfortable, and safer when I’m dancing tipsy, hehe…but I’m just not sure whether I can find a flat that will work with my dress, Casablanca 1807 from the Spring 2006 collection. Maybe I can find something in ivory satin with a little sparkle. Your flats are beautiful! They really do look perfect with your dress, and I love the fact that you can wear them with other things afterwards. I hope I can find something equally suitable, versatile and comfortable. :)

My future hubby is only a few inches taller than me. Normally, there is not a day that you will catch me without 3+ inch heels on (which makes us very close in height)…. BUT for this occasion, I wanted to be sure that I appeared shorter than him. I don’t know, something sweet about standing there looking up at him while we say our vows. I am wearing champagne colored satin ballet flats that match my dress perfectly! Yours are adorable!

It’ll be flats for me as well since the Mr. is only a few inches taller than me. I don’t want to appear the same height by wearing heels. Plus, I think they’ll be more comfortable!

I wish I was wearing flats… instead, i’ll be wearing 4″ heels to gain a few inches on my FI since he’s 6′1″ and i’m 5′4″.

but it’s all about the flipflops for the reception! :)

Great choice.

Yes, flats for me! Happy feet, plus I’m 2 inches taller.

P.S. Wah-wah, 5′7″ for a man is not so terribly vertically challenged.

FH is 2 inches shorter than me. I went with a kitten heel about an inch in height. Even if I go with flats, I’ll still be taller so I opted to get what I wanted. He’s used to me being taller anyway and it’s who we are- no use in trying to disguise it!

Those shoes are perfect for your dress.
My Fi is 5′10 and I’m 5′8, I didn’t want to be taller than him, so I got flats as well.
I got these cute sketchers, similar to to these, but with little crystals on them.

They are so me. I live in sneakers, sketchers esp.
I am a bit jealous of the beautiful shoes I see other girls will be wearing!

my fiance is only a couple inches taller than me, so i probably SHOULD wear flats so that I don’t end up being taller than him, but I just can’t NOT wear heels! I don’t feel dressed up wearing flats. I bought some shoes that have 2.5″ heels, so I’m pretty much exactly the same height as him! Oh well :)

My FI is about 4″ shorter than me, so I get to wear flats. Adorable blue jeweled flip flops!
