Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Comparisons

August 15th, 2007 @ 12:42 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

Since we’re still pinching every penny, I’ve decided to forgo getting a diamond wedding band until later - perhaps our 1 year anniversary. I honestly don’t need to spend a big amount on a band, and as I’ve said before, I love the idea of a plain “forever” band.

So, this is what I’m leaning towards. A plain 2mm white gold band. It’s about the same width as my e-ring (I think my e-ring is about 1.5 or something, it’s very thin), and I can have the inside engraved.

Comparisons : wedding los angeles rings Z1046001 z104600

I found what I assume to be the same wedding band at e-wedding bands.com and wedding bands.com. At e-bands, the price was $56.00 - engraving (up to 30 characters including spaces) is $7.50, with free Fedex three day shipping. At weddingbands.com, the band was $59.00 with free engraving and ground shipping.

Upon closer inspection, the e-wedding band was a comfort fit, which means a rounded inside to keep the ring from irritating your finger, while the $59.00 band at weddingbands.com was not a comfort fit. . For the same band at weddingbands.com, it was a whole $20.00 more, perhaps a little bit more, since every 1/4 of a size change adds a dollar.

To conclude this slightly rambly post, I believe I will be going with e-weddingbands.com. A difference in $18.50 may not be a lot, but it’s a savings!

Did any of you order your (or your FI’s) wedding bands online? Were you satisfied?

my e-ring is from http://www.bluenile.ca - my fiance really enjoyed being able to choose the exact quality of diamond and best of all I LOVE my ring!

All of our rings have been/will be purchased online. We’re extremely happy with what we’ve bought so far (still need to order my wedding band). My e-ring came from Blue Nile and my fiance’s wedding band came from tungstenworld.com.

we ordered titanium rings from http://www.boonerings.com because we like the durability of titanium. They’re all automatically a comfort fit, and we are VERY happy with our rings. We can’t wait to wear them!

Overstock.com for both mine and FH’s bands.

We ordered my engagement band online. I’m satisfied — but a) I wish I had let FI choose it, and b) it’s not quite what I was expecting. I wish we had seen it in person, I might not have chosen it. It took several months for me to like my ring. I still have regrets sometimes.

(FI chose the stone and did a great job - I wish I trusted him more to choose a gorgeous band!)

We bought both my and my FI’s wedding band on eweddingbands.com and are extremely satisfied. We had to return both of our rings because we decided to go with smaller widths on both and was able to do that even though they were engraved. They can also send you plastic sizing rings for free to try before ordering. I highly recommend them!! :-)

Should get a platinum one instead. White gold would fade away and become yellow when the coating wears off. Unless you buy it from a jeweler that gives lifetime free maintenence (recoating), you’ll have to live with a yellow band …

Sph- White gold won’t fade away and become yellow. IF it is rhodium plated then the rhodium plating will eventually wear off and you will probably be left with a grayish metal(the exact color depending on what the gold was alloyed with to make the white gold). High nickle alloys don’t need a rhodium plating because the high nickle content makes it white enough however white gold with a high nickle content causes an allergic reaction in a lot of people.

Thanks for that clarification ;) I chose white gold over platnium because it has a bit more shine to it…totally personal pref!

We got Mr. Pearl’s wedding band from e-weddingbands.com and it was cuter in person than on the website. Totally loved it and absolutely no complaints!

Also, 2 mm rings seem soooo thin. I originally got one, but realized that if I ever went anywhere without my engagement ring (i.e. traveling), I’d probably want a wedding band that was more substantial so my finger didn’t look weirdly plain. Have you tried on these widths in person to see how they look?

We bought our bands from eweddingbands.com and have been very satisfied. My e-ring has a 2mm band so I got a 3 mm wedding band in Platinum. Hubby got his in Palladium with the brushed finish. Very nice…you can’t even tell the difference between the Palladium and Platinum, except for the price! They kinda screwed up the first ring they sent him…really wrong size, probably someone else’s ring, but they fixed it at no cost to us.

We didn’t do the engraving since I didn’t like the sample photos on their site…We took them to a local jeweler for engraving where they had more of a font choice.

We’re ordering them through the same jeweler that he got my e ring…and also where his Mom has gotten her jewelry for the past 20+ years. I am sure it is more expensive this way, but oh well. We all feel good about it and have formed a relationship with the jeweler.

Check with local jewelers for this- they should be up to 20 dollars cheaper plus you’ll get a warranty!

(Apparently I can’t leave a comment without messing up the html with a carat. Ha! carat)

E-weddingbands was the only place where I could find a 8.25, 5mm, white gold band with engraving. They engraved it and shipped it the same day that I ordered it.

He loves it and even though it is a 5mm band and he’s never worn a ring before, he says that within a couple of hours of wearing it he completely forgot he had it on.

Thanks for clarifying on the white gold :) I just read it on the internet. Jewelers online must be misinforming. Obviously platinum is more expensive …

We just received our wedding bands from BlueNile.com yesterday (he purchased my e-ring through them, as well) and we couldn’t be happier.

We got both our rings from e-weddingbands.com and they’re great. We were just looking for plain white gold bands and we got both of ours for under $130.
