Morton’s Foot!?

August 15th, 2007 @ 4:35 pm by Mrs. Gummi Bear

Curse that morton and his damned feet… I mean 10% of people have it, but I have always cursed that toe. I wanted to wear these, so bad, so bad I might cut my toe off… Cinderella’s step sisters did it, and I’m about as evil as they are, so it’s only fitting, right?

so cute on the photo online

Note my daikon ashi… and that toe! Why is my toe so long?

[mr. gb: the picture doesn’t look NEARLY as weird as it does in person!]

Instead, I’m going to hide that toe that makes me so self conscious. I have other reasons, like that Mr GB isn’t that much taller than I am and the grass thing. Yea… the grass. So I bought these and I’m stickin’ to it:

 gummiballet.jpg

I bought the first pair online, and now, well, I regret it. Mostly because it reminded me that my feet are the kind that those with foot fetishes would run away from, but also because the return policy is not so great. My impulse purchases will guide me to hell, or at least a sad disapproving head shake from Mr. GB. Ebay?

I have it too! I rarely wear sandals, just too weird looking! I have only seen one other person, besides my mom, who has this. Some people think it means you are smart and my boss says it means that I will be rich. I like his meaning! haha

Someone told me that in India this means you are a member of one of the higher castes. No idea if it’s true.

I have a long toe too…I let it hang out! Haha. LOVE the Loubutins…I say wear them at some point!

I also love the flats…I have them in black and wear them all the time, they’re adorable.

Where did you buy the first pair?

Huh, I have it too! I heard it means you’re going to be “the boss” in your relationship! And it’s TRUE! (don’t tell Mr. K I said that)

I think that no one is going to notice your toe. especially if you’re in a wedding dress? But hey, whatever you feel is necessary.

no one will notice your long toe. and i doubt any photog would shoot your feet in a birds eye view.
so your secret is safe.

except with you know, all the wedding bee readers. =)

Miss Bee: Mine is WAY long, somehow it doesn’t look so bad in that photo, but it pretty much goes to the end of the shoe if not over. I have a feeling that it’s more prominent in asians, or maybe even koreans, because I feel like I see it on more than 10% of people I know.

Miss Kiwi: oooo maybe! makes sense here, hah! Poor Mr. GB.

ally/cab07: I bought them in japan, but they are light pink Louboutin Moustiques. I’ve seen the black version at the Neiman Marcus in SF. :) Size 36.5 anyone?

If you were a 39 they’d be sold! Haha. I’m in NYC…I’ll hunt around. Thanks!

Good luck with whatever shoe you decide on…I wouldn’t count that long toe out just yet!

Ok- I would never let a “big” toe stop me from wearing lovely shoes- especially Louboutins!! Your feet are fine! Honestly it’s not noticeable unless someone’s directly right above you staring down at your toes. No one will notice. Your flats pale in comparison- sorry.

LOVE the shoes. I used to be really self-conscious of my feet (webbed toe) but finally realized that nobody was going to judge me based on my toe, and I was drastically limiting my footwear choices. If you’re wearing fabulous shoes, nobody will pay attention to your toe!

*sigh* I have that toe too. Except my toes are finger toes. I wave hello to my FI with them.. My sisters and friends always said I have alien toes. I measured my long second toe the other day and it was like an inch and a half long. Hope my misery makes you feel better about yourself. GOD those are cute shoes. Btw I have a somewhat similar tattoo on my left foot, only it’s a tiny moon.

Tofu, your comment CRACKED me up. I say “hi” to stuff all the time, especially if it’s weird.
I don’t think your toe is weird, your feet look dainty. My second toe is longer, too - I never knew there was a name for it! My mum says it means we’re from royalty. I don’t mind my x-long toe as much as my bunions and my non-arch. Ugh. I love your tattoo and the shoes. I say wear what is comfortable - that’s always important. Thanks for the post, and thanks for the funny comment, tofu!!

I think that your feet look fabulous in those shoes! My sister has those toes too and she always feels self-conscious in shoes.
If you’re comfortable with it though, I say go for it, because no one will notice. Really!

my second toe is longer than my big toe too… and i’ve heard the same thing as the research mrs. bee heard on jay leno… LoL…

the shoes are so cute!! i say if they are comfy and u like them, wear them! ppl aren’t going to notice, esp since you will have a long gown on. i’m jealous, i can’t wear peep toe shoes since i had stitches in the bottom of my foot a couple years ago.

hahaha… “daikon ashi!” My family always uses taht phrase too! But I think the shoes look cute on you. You know what they say: having a long second toe is supposed to be a sign of intelligence. ^-^

Those shoes are so lovely and I don’t think the toe looks weird. But, if you’re going to feel self conscious while wearing them, it is not worth trying to convince you otherwise. You have more important things to think about on your wedding day!

I LOVE the flat shoes you are going to wear better… I have the same problem with the height issue, I’m 5-11 and 3/4 (I don’t want to say 6′, but I guess I am 6′ tall) so even though I wear 4″ heels everywhere, my photog begged me to wear flats so I wouldn’t tower over the wedding party :)

It took me 10 months to find the perfect flat, but I finally found them two weeks ago… besides with grass flats are a MUST, good rationalization

Those Louboutin’s are delicious. And yes, I would wear them even with my special toes. When I was wandering in the Louvre I realized that all the classical art (Greek sculpture, Italian paintings, French Portraiture) had feet like ours.

Embrace the classical feet, it merely means we have aristocratic lineage.
