Mrs. Kiwi's Picture
Mrs. Kiwi, Los Angeles Age and Occupation in 06: 27, Bookkeeper Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, P.E. Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Crinoline Me

August 16th, 2007 @ 4:37 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

I’ve never been a fan of the crinolines.

Well, that’s until my seamstress mentioned I may need it for the dress. I dutifully went to the Casablanca Bio to check out what the dress looked like on other gals. Interestingly enough, one girl went without, and one girl with.

So, while I am a short gal, I wonder if the crinoline will make me a little “wider”. A definite plus: extra inches added to the length, which means less to have altered!

Which do you think looks better? With a crinoline or without?

if i hadn’t seen the second option, I wouldn’t have known it was missing. Go with whatever look you like best — a-line or ball gown. with crinolin is noticably more full, which may be difficult to carry off if you’re petite.

You could compromise….I had a crinoline, but I had the seamstress alter it nearly in half and it was perfect!

I vote for no crinoline. The dress looks great without it and the stuff just does not feel good to wear regardless of how it looks. You want to feel good on your wedding day, not itchy!

I prefer it with crinoline. For whatever reason, my brain perceives the second look as more “regal” :)

I like it with the crinoline - it looks more balanced.

I’m no use, because I vote for a small not *too* poofy crinoline.

I think I prefer the crinoline as well, but not tooo poofy! The dress is GORGEOUS either way though! :-)

I prefer the crinoline, although the difference isn’t huge.
I have to say, the full skir t may make your entire siloutte wider, but I do think it makes the waist look smaller by contrast. I really think the waist would look more dramatic in the first if the skirt was fuller…

I like it better with the crinolone.

I think the crinoline will give you more a defined waist. always a plus. Both styles are pretty but if i had to choose, I’d go with number two.

I prefer the crinoline, as well. I had a ball gown, and without a crinoline, the dress just looked flat and lifeless. The crinoline adds a little something extra. :)

I like with the crioline, but half of it! I know you can alter the crioline to be smaller and i like the fact that it’ll make a bride’s waist look smaller. :-)

did you get to try it on with/without? i think whichever you are more comfortable in. i prefer the first picture, but maybe you would look better with it… you never know till you see it on you. (if you do get it, you can dye it a fun color ;))

The dress without the crinoline looks droopy.

I think that particular dress may look better without the crinoline, especially because of the pleats, which are sort of anti-poofy in nature.

I think it really depends on how you look in the dress. Based on those two pictures, I like it with the crinoline better. But I’m confused, if you’re on the shorter side and the crinoline will make you look “wider”, wouldn’t that make you look even shorter?

L, it will probably make me look shorter, but the extra fabric inches (from the puff outwards) will be easier to alter. :)
