Top of the Morning…

August 16th, 2007 @ 7:03 pm by Mrs. Plumeria

Hello hive! :) It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

I’ve been married for almost exactly three months now and it has been wonderful — newlywed life, while not as completely rosy-perfect as one might expect before being married, is nevertheless blissful. Since the wedding, we’ve just been settling down and getting used to the new swing of things… but I knew someday I’d come back to share more about that special day! So, here we go, beginning with the very start of the morning on May 12th, 2007…

All photos taken by Garrett Burdick and Matt Reoch of GB Photographers (check out their blog, with some of their most recent work, here!). Please do not take and/or repost without a credit to them. Thanks!!

The dress…

My parents, all dressed up and ready to go.

And the bridesmaids, getting ready themselves and doing all the normal things…

Putting on makeup…

Cutting the straps on their dresses off…

Haha okay I know that one’s not normal. But we decided for her to go strapless (as she preferred) last minute and were desperate. I love that Garrett captured this moment… it makes me giggle when I see it because I remember her saying, “No, no! Don’t take a picture of me right now!!”

Makeup for myself, done quickly and simply. No regrets.

A view of the backside of the gorgeous half-updo Kat Vercelli from The Spa at Stacy Monroe’s created for me…

… as well as the hairpiece I’d fashioned for myself early in the planning days.

Ready to put on the dress!

I seriously needed all the help I could get to put it on. Thanks girls! :)

Getting buttoned up…

… and then deodorized. Hehe :)

Almost ready…

Here comes the veil…

Ready to get married!

Hey again! Just wanted to let you know I already found the answers to my questions…the BM dress thing is really getting annoying. Everytime I see dresses that would work, they have been specially made - grr…

Thanks! :) HamiHarri — glad you found the answers!

I’m gonna do a post on the makeup I used soon, too… I don’t think I ever blogged about it, now that I’m trying to recall. I know I didn’t make the final decisions as to what exactly I was going to use, until the day of… hehe. For anyone else wondering the same things: my dress was a Jasmine Couture and the bms’ dresses were all custom-made… I seriously think it’s the way to go for beautiful and not-too-expensive dresses!

You looked so beautiful in all the pics! And your makeup was amazing too!

Btw, you mentioned that the dresses were custom made. Would you mind sharing where you went to get them made? I’m considering getting my BM’s dresses custom so that no one complains that they don’t fit right. =)

Hi! :) Thanks for all of the compliments. davisb, I loved my dress sooo much — I’m sure you do too :)

Jen, the girls all had different outfits — they had a choice from several different tops and skirts and could combine as they wanted. They were located all over CA so they each handled their dresses separately in terms of seamstresses. I put together packages with all of the fabric, patterns, and notions they would need once they’d chosen their outfits and they took it from there (I wouldn’t recommend different seamstresses if you want them all to have the same dress, because each person sews differently, but in this case that didn’t matter). The prices ranged from $50-90, I think — about what they would have paid to get a ready-made dress altered. I sew myself and was originally contemplating making them… yeah I got talked out of that pretty quickly, eheh… though I did end up making some slight alterations to my MOH’s dress.

For fabrics, I went to Silk Road Fabrics in Oakland (www.silkroadfabric.com) and there was a large bulletin board there full of seamstresses’ business cards. You might want to go there and write down a bunch!! Debra from Dori Anne Veils, where I bought my own dress, has a list of reputable Bay Area seamstresses that she gives to customers too. HTH!

And hi SUE!! :)

Wow, beautiful!

Also that dress is the dress I want so bad but can’t afford! Though I have to admit it looks better on you then it does on me.

Mrs. Plumeria — stunning. You looked just beautiful and I love your dress. I also LOVE the last photo as you look so calm, happy, in love and ready to be married. That’s how I plan on feeling :)

And TOO funny about the bridesmaid cutting off her straps.

Your dress was “the dress” for me for a long time until I happened to choose something else. I tried it on several times. I really like it.

Jaye - I don’t know what your budget was, but that dress was priced at about $850 at the place I found it at.

The dress is a Jasmine, style H939 - jasminebridal.com.
