Ring-a-ding ding

August 17th, 2007 @ 9:27 am by Mrs. Corn

22 days to go and I figured I would take out the rings, you know, to make sure they still fit. Yeah, that’s it. :)

Mr. Corn’s is a white gold band with a basketweave design in the middle.

Mine is a platinum band that matches my engagement ring. I originally wanted a simple, wide platinum band with nothing on it and maybe a rolled edge. But when we went to the store to pick out our rings, I was quickly distracted by all the sparkly things. :)

What do your rings look like? Are they a matching set?

Hi Miss Corn – Is it really 22 days?! Wow time flies. Lovely wedding ring - Mr Corn’s ring is nice too – very masculine. I posted about my wedding ring a while back — the post was called “A ring is born” if you wanted to check it out.

Mr. Onion also had his ring custom made and doesn’t want to share until after the wedding lest someone copy him! He’s so funny.

First, please forgive me for my lack of ring knowledge - I’ve been reading the series on diamonds posted here, but I’m not sure how to best describe my rings! My engagement ring has the center diamond set upon a circular bed of pave’ diamonds with pave’ halfway down the bands as well (we wanted flexibility in resizing should my fingers get bigger). My FI worked with a local jeweler to custom design a wedding band will small diamonds to hug the circle on my e-ring. If that makes sense? Both are white gold.

The wedding band my FI picked out is also white gold, with miligrain around the top and bottom. He wanted something fairly simple, and I really like the ring we picked.

Lovely rings! I did get a very plain platinum band. My husband wanted platinum to match mine, but didn’t want something completely plain, so his is a platinum band with a titanium inlay that gives it a two-tone look, silver and gray. It’s a very masculine-looking ring. It’s one of the Newport bands at e-weddingbands.com. Mine is also from them, a plain 4mm platinum band.

Your band is beautiful! Where did you find such a ring? Mr. Corn’s ring is subtle while not being overly basic or boring. Congratulations!

Wow, Mrs. Corn, to me the detailing on yours looks like an antique style — instant heirloom!

Hey Susan. The engagement ring is a Scott Kay. It came from Long’s Jewelers in Boston. When we went to look for bands, we headed there. I looked at all the plain bands, but next to my ering I thought they looked weird. So I tried on the matching Scott Kay piece and fell in love.

Miss Corn, those are so pretty! I love your wedding band…it matches so beautifully with your e-ring!

My rings are a matching set…they belonged to my fiance’s maternal grandmother, so they not only *look* very vintage, they really are! They have gold bands (which wasn’t my original preference, but I’ve grown to love them), and the center stone on the e-ring is a small diamond (no idea what carat it is…it’s small, though, so likely under .5) and it’s unusual in the fact that it’s a round cut, but it’s set in a square setting. It makes the diamond look bigger than it is, first of all, but it also adds to the vintage feel of the ring.

On either side of the center stone, there are two very small (really, really tiny) diamonds set into a silver, round setting. Again…adds to the vintage feel having all these different shapes on the ring.

The wedding band is also gold, of course, and has 3 stones that match the small stones on the e-ring, also set into round settings. I love the whole set together, and cannot wait till I get to wear them both in just a couple of short months!

Oooh Faith, I love the old fashioned round diamonds in the square setting- my grandma’s engagement ring was like that. I always thought it was so pretty!

My e-ring is a round centre stone with a tapered baguette on each side, in platinum. I loved the simplicity of the style and its clean lines. It was bespoke because I was very picky about the proportions of the baguettes in relation to the centre stone. We haven’t picked our wedding bands yet, but the same jeweler will be making them for us. I’m leaning towards a very slim platinum band so as not to detract from the e-ring, but like Miss Corn, I may get distracted with sparkles when it comes time to decide! Miss Corn- your set is REALLY lovely!

I think I like your rings the best of any bee so far. Just a personal opinion, but I just love the ornate patterns. The diamond is a good size but not humongous, and there are lots of little diamonds to even it all out. I do really like them, and they match each other well.

Mine aren’t made to match, but they do. :)

your fi’s ring looks like my fi’s, except his is yellow & white gold.
our rings do not match eachother’s, but my band complements my e-ring well. (wedding band has channel set diamonds on the top third of the band, which lines up with the channel set little diamonds on either side of my solitaire). my e-ring narrows a bit from the channel set stones toward the main stone.
fi wanted a ring he’d want to wear, not just a solid band.

I love the look of these rings! Very beautiful indeed! We decided to buy matching wedding bands and I choose a titanium ring from http://www.titanium-jewelry.com/. They helped me make an informative choice on the setting as well as matching the bands!
