Wedding Day: Part 5

August 17th, 2007 @ 4:06 pm by Mrs. Tomato

It was 6pm, and the bridal party was due for their big entrance.

Chris plays music
MC makes wedding party introductions:
- Alice Tan & Dan Tsui
- Janice Chen & Vincent Ko
- Judy Liang & Dean Chang
- Bride & Groom [play "Sexy Back"]

If I had to pick one miniscule disappointment on my wedding day, it was that Mr. Tomato and I didn’t get to do our “entrance dance” to Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back” (yes I’m a pop girl…can’t help it!). Not that it was anything terribly original (and it was only 30 seconds long), but I HAD bought a top hat for it and we HAD practiced beforehand. But the timing was off, so we ended up running in instead, half-embarrassed:

(I still look happy though!)

Our lovely table setting! I absolutely adored our floral centerpieces. You can’t really see it here, but they were small vases with pebbles, ferns and tiny yellow orchids. It proves that inexpensive ways can have its own charm and elegance.

7:15 (MC introduces) FATHER OF BRIDE and FATHER OF GROOM toasts
Father of Bride goes first (5 min), followed by Father of Groom (5 min).

My dad’s speech was hilarious. At one point he said, “Don’t look at my daughter, but she is actually very smart in math.” He then went on to say how he could never beat me in Brain Age (a math-based Nintendo DS game), even though he was an engineer and I was an English/art major. Ha!

7:30 (MC introduces) Chason prays for meal
1st course served
Auberge staff resumes music

Our photographer caught a picture of our hands together during the prayer for the meal. This picture wasn’t planned for, but I love it!

Mmm…check out our first course of scallops!

7:45 Auberge staff turns off music
- (MC introduces) Chason reads poem
- MC explains kiss protocol (Clanging wine glasses are not enough! You must share a story about the bride/groom or both)

The kissing protocol worked out REALLY well. Everyone clamored to share a story, and it helped people who did not know either me or Mr. Tomato learn a little bit more about our personalities and our lives. One of Mr. Tomato’s college roommates had so many stories we had to limit him to three!

(This was a funny kissing attempt. I was leaning towards Mr.Tomato, who kept leaning back and eventually banged his head against the wall. shocked013)

7:50 2nd course served

8:00 Auberge staff turns off music
(MC introduces) MAID OF HONOR, BEST MAN toasts

8:15 Entrée served

DOC to arrange flowers on getaway car
Bride & Groom begin table rounds

Cheers!

Dessert served (the kitchen gave us a little special touch!)

9:15 (MC introduces) Shoe game
Chris to pull up getaway car

9:45 (MC introduces) Bride & Groom thanks guests and official send-off in foyer
MC makes announcement NOT to take vases
Photographers to follow Bride & Groom to cottages to take final pictures

Mr. Tomato and I waving good-bye:

10:00 BMs and GMs help pack up wedding items, gifts, etc. and load into cars
Dan packs up vases (we need florist to leave box/container)
Jenn & Chris pack up table card holders, their own A/V equipment, projector
Julia & Dean pack up gifts, amp and mics

We chose to end our wedding early because it was a Sunday night and over half of our guests had a two hour drive to get home. We wanted to be considerate of the fact they had to work the next day (even if we didn’t!) and made sure they got home safely while they were still awake.

That’s the end of our timeline! But there is still one more part to this saga of a wedding day, so stay tuned…

Mrs. Tomato says:

Dear Helen,
Yes, my coordinator and I worked on the timeline together, then we distributed it to whoever was on the list–the entire wedding party, MC, and other helpers.

Hope that helps!
