We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Yays For Alterations

August 17th, 2007 @ 11:26 am by Mrs. Kiwi

I’m going to hop on the yay! boo! bandwagon here with some yays and boos directored towards our first fitting.

Yay! The dress is out of the house!

Boo! I want to rub my cheek on it, and can’t.

Yay! I’m finally getting it fitted!

Boo! The seamstress said it’s a “Whole lot of beading”

Yay! The alteration isn’t impossible!

Boo! She thinks the dress is too heavy for me.

Yay! FMIL is paying for alterations!

Boo! I didn’t get to try on my whole ensemble.

Yay! I get to try it on again soon!

Boo! The seamstress has to completely take the sides apart in order to be able to measure me. Why? Because the bodice on top is heavy with beads and won’t stay pinned while it’s on.

Yay! It will actually fit me!

Boo! It’s going to be HOT.

Yay! The whole outfit is paid off now!

Boo! Still no computer/USB cable for pics.

And finally… YAY! I’ve got a wedding dress that can fit me!

This is so encouraging Miss Kiwi! I’m glad to hear you have a wedding dress that can fit you, and I’m also relieved for myself, because think I’ll be in a similar situation when my dress comes in. The bodice of my dress has alternating strips of two different fabrics and lots of (tasteful) sparklies. My hips (aka the bane of my existence) were two sizes bigger than my bust on the wedding dress size chart, so we ordered the larger size, ensuring that significant alterations to the bodice will be required, and I’m so nervous about how it will turn out! I look forward to hearing more about your alterations process.
