Honeymoon Plans Part II

August 20th, 2007 @ 12:11 pm by Mrs. Poppy

Well Mr. Poppy and I were supposed to take our honeymoon in December to Thailand, then stop by Hong Kong for another Chinese banquet. But his work needs him, and so we’re taking a honeymoon during late October. We both decided that we’ll do a formal Chinese banquet in Hong Kong next year and we’ll just enjoy a honeymoon that isn’t as far as Thailand.

So now we’re debating about where to go. We’ve already been to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and loved it, but we’re not sure if we want to go around that area again even though the weather isn’t too shabby in October. We looked at Barbados, Costa Rica and saw many all inclusive packages via Apple Vacations. We used them for our Dominican Republic trip and loved them. We’re also debating about cruises that leave from NYC.

We don’t have much time to plan this and we’re even considering Hawaii. Do you know of any great vacationing/honeymooning spots in late October? We could use all the advice we can get. smiley3011

mr. bee and i went to costa rica for our anniversary earlier this year, and i must say we had a truly amazing time. though october is the “wet season” it shouldn’t be too bad and you can take advantage of great rates! there’s so much to do there and a little bit of something for everyone. :-)

Are you definitely looking for somewhere beachy?

I highly recommend Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Loved loved loved Waikiki. Take a non-stop flight to/from NYC. No issues re passports, customs, currency, languages, etc.

hawaii is great all year round. if you’re a little more strapped for funds, oahu is great. it’s of course, a city, but it still has more obscure private beaches than the very touristy waikiki. and because it’s a city, they have some of the best restaurants and established chefs there too. so you get the best of both worlds!

We’re going to Aruba. It’s out of the hurricane belt, so you won’t have to worry about the weather. The Bucuti Beach Resort is known for being a great honeymoon spot, due to the very private beach and “kids discouraged” policy.

mexico mexico mexico… any time of year it’s a great option. We went to Cancun recently, but anywhere on the Yucatan is beautiful. I heard Cabo is gorgeous, we know someone with a timeshare there but I heard that depending on the time of year, the tide is really rough, making it impossible to swim in the oceans. Good Luck!

We went to Los Cabos, Mexico and it was wonderful! We went in February/March - not sure about October/November weather, but I imagine it’s beautiful most of the time.

Also, it was through Apple Vacations and I agree - they do a great job! We stayed at the Hilton Los Cabos which has an amazing pool and a great location on the beach.

Have fun planning your trip!
