Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Wedding Tragedy

August 20th, 2007 @ 3:47 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

As I was griping about my dislike of guest lists this morning, I came upon a rather sad news item. On the eve of being the Matron of Honor in her best friend’s wedding, Cindy Osler was struck by lightning and killed.

The article reads:

NEWARK, N.J. - A woman who was to serve as the matron of honor at her best friend’s wedding was struck by lightning and killed during the rehearsal dinner on the eve of the ceremony.

Cindy Osler, 45, had gone outside with the best man Friday night to check their car windows when she was hit by a bolt of lightning.

“Everybody was so happy, and then it became a nightmare,” said Dave Tarnowski, the best man.

The bolt tore through the pavement and knocked Tarnowski down. The wedding was postponed indefinitely after Osler’s death.

“She was my best friend,” said Lisa Lecompte, the bride. “She was like a sister to me and a second mom to my kids.”

Osler is survived by her husband of 25 years, Frank, three children and two grandchildren.

Suddenly makes my wedding troubles seem pitiful and pathetic in comparison. My heart goes out to the friends and family of Cindy Osler.

That puts everything in perspective. My motto is whenever you think you have it bad, someone else out there has it worse.

My boss’ wife was at the same restaurant and was walking out the door when she was struck so she witnessed the entire thing. She told us today when we came in. It was crazy. Very sad indeed.
