About Mrs. Corn

Just. Can’t. Wait.

August 21st, 2007 @ 2:25 pm by Mrs. Corn

As you know, I am in Orlando until Thursday for work. Basically, I am sitting at a desk in a freezing lobby of a hotel by Sea World in case one of the 666 FT Audit Campus hires that my firm just hired has an HR question. Thankfully, we haven’t had that many fires to put out.

This has provided me with LOTS of time to sit and contemplate how my wedding is only 18 days away!!

18 DAYS!! YAYYYYYYYY!!!

Some people thought I was nuts to go to Orlando with only two weeks left before the big day, but actually it really pushed me into high gear to make sure everything was all set before I left.

Yes, there are things that need to wait until the last minute…seating arrangements, getting our license, having our final vendor meetings and my final dress fitting. But other than that, we could get married tomorrow if we needed to.

I will admit, well before I knew I was headed to FL; way back, 9 months ago when we first got engaged, I made a promise to myself that just like any other event I have planned in my life, I wanted to be done with the planning well ahead of time…and by ‘well’ I mean a week.

Of course, I never anticipated that with everything done that can be done, I would be so antsy! Which I guess is a good thing.

So are any of you planning on being ready to go early, or am I the only nutty one?

when i’m wedding planning for others, i always aim to be done with absolutely everything on the weekend prior to the wedding, so that all that would be left during the week of is to get a mani/pedi, perhaps deliver a few items here and there. but mainly to relax and greet guests as they arrive. i have the same goal for myself, but it’s still more than 2 mos away, so we’ll see if it actually pans out.

We are 39 days away from the wedding, and the only things remaining on our to-do list are: groom still needs to get fitted for suit, get our marriage license, make the programs, and make the OOT bags. Woo hoo! :)

39 days to go! We’ve got a destination wedding, so everything HAS to be ready 7 days before the wedding because that’s when we’ll be leaving for Hawaii. The only things that will have to wait are the flower arrangements and picking up some welcome bag components.

Speaking of Orlando, I have to fly down there for work tomorrow - how’s the weather? We have a big client down there and tomorrows is the first of at least 3 more trips to take before the wedding. ugh!

That’s the plan. We’re having a 17 month engagement so we can take our time, and not stress. We had every major vendor booked at the one year mark and now, with 8 months to go, we’re working on the menues and programs. I have checklists for my checklists. I know something last minute will come up (it always does), but I’m trying to make it so the only thing I’ll have to deal with is last minute stuff - everything else will be taken care of.

I did the same thing! My wedding date is the same as yours. I vowed to not wait until the last minute to do the little things. Everything time I thought of something to do, I just got it done instead of waiting on it. Things like wrapping presents, getting “thank you” cards, I wanted to get out of the way. We only have the seatting arrangement and one final meeting with our venue to go!! Good luck with eveything!

same day as you!!! 18 left!!!

i told myself i wouldn’t wait until last minute, and unfortunately we’re in a bit of a rush. i got the designs down pat but then execution was a problem b/c everything’s diy. hopefully we can get enough done in the next two weeks that the actual week before the wedding i can relax (whole week off, wheee!!).

we’re goign to tennessee this weekend for my FI’s best man’s wedding, speaking of trips right before your wedding…
