The Shoe Game

August 21st, 2007 @ 5:59 pm by Mrs. Tomato

A bit more about the shoe game that Mr.Tomato and I played during the end of our reception…

Basically, the bride/groom take off their shoes and trade one shoe so that each are holding a bride shoe and a groom shoe. The couple is then seated back to back (we had chairs set up at the front of the room so everyone could see) so that they can’t see each other.

The emcee then asks questions that the bride/groom must answer by raising the appropriate shoe:

Who is more likely to make breakfast in bed for the other? Who is more likely to clean the bathroom?

And some of my favorites:

Who is better looking? Who is a better kisser? (Mr. Tomato and I both selected the other in this one) blush019

I first saw this game at a friend’s wedding, and it was thoroughly entertaining to see which questions they agreed on and which ones they didn’t. With Mr.Tomato and me, he would raise his shoe(s) right away while I took a little longer to answer (I do take my time in answering questions). Apparently our guests thought this was quite humorous. silly043

I think this is a pretty common game in Asian weddings. It is quite funny when the right questions are asked, and when the grooms feel forced to answer certain ways to make their brides happy :D haha.

A DJ at a bridal faire was telling me about this. It sounds fun. But instead of shoes, they painted ping pong paddles pink and blue, and put a b and g on it (bride and groom). This might be a better option if your man has stinky shoes! :)

Hm, some more questions that were asked of us during the shoe game:

Who is the more jealous one? Who will be the first to sleep on the couch? Who is the better cook? Who will wear the pants in the house? Which of you wants kids more?

If I remember more, I’ll let you guys know!

Our DJ did this game at my wedding and it was so much fun. I think we only got one question wrong - Who is more athletic :) We both picked ourselves. The DJ planned on asking 10 questions, but the guests were having fun telling him more things to ask us!

Some of the questions were:
-Who is going to control the checkbook
-Who controls the remote
-Who is the better cook
-Who is more romantic
-Who is more spontaneous
-Who has the better fashion sense
-Who does the packing for vacations

I know there was a bunch more he use, but these are the ones I remember off the top of my head. The game was a ton of fun and everyone enjoyed it!

We played this game at our going-away party, but it seemed like we had a better time playing it than our guests did. :(

Definitely not cheesy, doesn’t take too much time, and I thought my friend got cute pics out of it. :-)
