A Cinderella Wedding

August 22nd, 2007 @ 11:21 am by Mrs. Poppy

A friend of mine sent me to a website of his friend who recently got married, and I was instantly in love! Their wedding was like Cinderella!  I noticed their videos most of all since they were quite beautiful, and I asked the bride if she would like to share her most special day with our weddingbee readers. She was more than happy to share it with us! Congratulations Amy and Alex!

We had our wedding day filmed professionally not once, but TWICE! Allow me to explain. Like everything else wedding related, we just couldn’t decide on one style of videography. Our videographer Patrick of Still-Motion.ca specializes in a cinematic style, which I love and is the reason we booked him in the first place. We really liked the idea of an emotional retelling of our day. But there is something so irresistible about Super 8mm (a topic covered once here before)! At the time we booked, they did not offer Super 8mm coverage. But Patrick, never one to turn down a challenge, decided to do it for us. Two days before the wedding, I called Patrick to finalize the wedding day details and we got to talking about Super 8mm.

It went something like this:

Patrick: It says here you want the Super 8 coverage to be “home-movie” like. What does that mean exactly?
Me: Um…I want it to be shakey, kinda amateurish looking.
Patrick: You want us to to shake the camera? Make it look like an amateur shot it?
Me: …uhhh…exactly, yes, that’s what I want!

We love that we got to see our day filmed from two very different perspectives!

The first clip is filmed entirely in Super 8mm, and this is our highlights clip in a style similar to the rest of our video.

I second HamiHarri. I’ve been looking forever for those dresses.

What an awesome wedding!! I wish I have the budget to include super 8 in mine. I love that 60’s home movie feel!

Oh, and her placecards/table cards are perfectly art deco! I wonder where she found those.

Yep. Miss Emerald posted them a couple of months ago. They led me to Still-Motion, who I’ve since as my videographers. Forever thankful Miss Emerald (and Amy & Alex)!

Hello, thank you for all the wonderful comments ladies. How funny that our wedding video has appeared yet again on weddingbee. I didn’t realize I knew so many bees! We are truly honored!

mskli - the dress is by Justina McCaffrey Haute Couture and is called “Sanctus”. I had it altered in the front but not much else was done to it. I fell in love with the quality of the silk and the design of the back.

HammiHari - regarding the BM dresses, I had them made by a local designer who works out of her home so they were well priced. This also allowed the girls to pick out styles that suited their bodies.

SBH - the placecard/candle idea came from Miss Emerald’s post. I purchased the same peony stamp that she had, some vellum paper, double stick tape, and sent it thru a jet printer. Labor intensive, but that’s all there was to it. My one and only attempt at DIY.

Miss Emerald, countdown to your wedding… Congratulations!! You must be so excited!!

Hi Amy,

Beautiful wedding and I loved your photos and videos too. I actually watched the video off the StillMotion website and did a search for your wedding blog - then landed up here. I never did find your wedding blog.

I am always looking for good seamstress in Toronto. Do you mind sharing your seamstress contact information?

Hi MsSparkle, my seamstress is from Chicago, where I purchased the dress. The place is called Dress Doctor. Not sure if they have locations in any other city.

[...] second clip is more than surprisingly similar; it is a YouTube version of Amy + Alex’s highlights that was reposted on another videographer’s website as their own work. You can view that here. [...]
