With 7 bees getting married in the next 4 weeks, we already need to start thinking about our next batch of characters! (We’re still looking for November - April brides. 
)
We were tossing around the idea of using birds, and thought of quite a few in a wide range of colors: penguin, robin, chick, hummingbird, etc. But will they look too similar to one another? Will people want to be birds? Are they “cute” enough? Other ideas include more fruits/veggies, desserts (cupcake, ice cream), and animals (since we already have a monkey).
We want characters that fit with the weddingbee theme, are memorable and distinct enough from one another, and have a good color variety. Which characters do you think we should go with next? Do you have any other suggestions?

ohhh! birds!! i love that. i would have LOVED to be a beautiful bird. hum… hummingbird.
Love birds! Bluebird, woodpecker, crow (hehehe), seagull, parrot, parakeet, canary… I had most of these..

I LOVE the bird idea! I think they can look quite different from one another depending on what you pick - for example birds like penguins, swans, ducks, hummingbirds, robins, cockatiels, parrots and peacocks are very distinctive. I don’t think you’ll have a problem at all Oooh! Lovebirds!!! You have to have a Miss Lovebird, that’s so cute for weddings.
Sea Creatures? I for one would LOVE to see a “Miss Hermit Crab” or a “Miss Goldfish” or a “Miss Dolphin.”
Where did monkey come from anyways? By the way he is not listed under other bloggers. I like birds too- do a wide range of birds not just songbirds-flamingo, ostrich, duck, chicken, turkey (haha-all food!), dodo?, so I can’t really think of what else. The desserts sound good too. Do you think you’ll ever run out of ideas-birds are animals, so are you going to do marine life next, or different phyllum?
I vote for candy…mmmm Ms. Chocolate!!
how about butterflies? or shoes (heels, vans, clogs, crocs, converses etc)?
What about herbs? Rosemary, Oregano, Basil, Mint, Thyme, Sage, etc?
herbs has been brought up in the past, but unfortunately they look too similar to one another, and they’re all green.
and mr. monkey is listed under “miss brides!” 
The Hydrangea is my favorite… so much so that the profile pic for the blog I have started in hopes of becoming a bee IS the hydrangea (I’m getting married in Oct of 2008 and am already crazy busy)!!
Candy is cute, the only problem is, you may run into legalities with using brand names, etc. so the “types” of candy could run out quick. Go for desserts which are cutesy… or birds!! Plus “birds and the bees” haha. For birds, the bees can always be named after their cooresponding regional professional teams if they’re die-hard fans.
Some animals might sound funny, like Miss Bear and Miss Dog, or Miss Cow…. could be misunderstood… you know??
how about emotions/feelings? but not the standard ones…perhaps miss sentimental, miss love struck, miss daydreaming, etc?
Haha I’m glad I got in before the birds….although they’d be pretty, I’m deathly scared by birds (even pigeons!)
Throwing out some very random ideas here: famous cities (Paris, Beijing, etc), beauty supplies (mascara, lip gloss, etc), cocktails (martini, cosmopolitan)
Cupcake! Adorable.
Miss truffle would be cute. I like the dessert idea. Sounds yummy to me!
Dinosaurs! Oh, just kidding. Would be crazy fun, tho…

Greek goddesses. Horoscope signs. Musical instruments. Holidays. DIY supplies (Miss Gocco!).
I think states/months has already been done and has a certain connotation…?
I can’t wait to apply to be a bee too … I love the herb idea, I had thought of that, too. Also, leaves - maybe not at the same time as the herbs. But palm, oak, maple, fern, etc. would be cute. I think birds are a great idea. Feels cohesive with the previous bee categories and birds are very prominent in design these days. I like all of the icons you’ve suggested, too. I love this blog!!!

I think that the desserts sound great..but then again, most of us are on weddingbee at work and then we would be hungry for that dessert all day!!
I really like the idea to have beauty supplies (you know that we are ALL product junkies!!)

I do like the birds idea as well, and there many ways of making them distinctive. You see birds a lot more in decor, so no, I don’t think they’re too cutesy. Besides, a Bee wants to be a Bee, regardless, right??
How about herbs and spices? Besides what LS named, there’s Miss Ginger, Miss Cinnamon, Miss Clove, Miss Paprika…
how about safari animals (miss giraffe, miss lion (ess?), miss zebra)
i like the sea creature idea… (miss dolphin, miss sea turtle, miss eel, miss lobster, miss sting ray)
you could also go with accessories (miss handbag, miss tophat, miss stilleto)
oh even get into seasons (miss sunshine, miss snowflake, miss leaf, miss bloom)
and lets not forget reptiles (miss lizard, miss crocodile, miss rattle snake, miss tortoise)
i love all the new icons! desserts would be great. i also really like the spice idea.
are people notified if they’re not selected?
yes lic-bride. everyone will get notified. since miss lovebug left i’ve been super backlogged. 
but i just chatted with her yesterday and she’s doing great.

I like the birds and desserts, mmm desserts (Miss Chocolate, Miss Parfait, Miss Cupcake, Miss Muffin, Miss Sprinkles…I could go on and on). What about dress fabrics (Miss Chiffon, Miss Silk)? Although it might be hard to do icons for that!
Plants/Trees/Leaves — Miss Maple, Miss Oak, Miss Bamboo, Miss Palm, Miss Fern…
And maybe more jewels - Miss Aquamarine, Miss Citrine, Miss Tanzanite, Miss Garnet…
Oh, I like the idea of birds! Some other ones that I have thought of that would be easy to make distinctive icons are Miss Cardinal, Miss Pelican, Miss Ostrich and Miss Flamingo.
A few months ago I woke up from a nap and I suddenly thought - when I apply to be a Bee, I will suggest “trees.” It was kind of a random thought but there are so many gorgeous trees that I love (*swoon* magnolia, dogwood). I guess I’m a nature geek. I have a fear of birds but I love animals - FI calls me “kitten” and I call him “bear” and “badger”.
i like the drinks concept as well as the desserts. both would turn out to be very cute icons if ever they get chosen.
i also wanted to ask who’s on the deciding committe if an applicant gets chosen or not?
and, also, what happened to miss broccoli? i was reading a previous post of hers and saw that her wedding date had already passed. any updates on her?
Why not more jewels? There is only me and Miss Emerald as jewels, so we could use more sparkly friends
I agree with Mrs. Pearl on the jewels! There are so many pretty ones to choose from and the names sound cute. I agree that the dessert icons would be cute, but not so much the names. Miss Cake? Miss Tart? Heehee. If you went for the cocktails, I bet everyone would wrestle for Miss Margarita!
the problem we had with jewels was we couldn’t get them cute enough. 3 different artists had trouble with them. maybe we’ll give them another whirl.
i like the animals idea (this can include birds as well). think of the possibilities - miss panda, miss koala, miss hippo!

I love the cocktail idea, the colors could be really bright and vibrant as well. Desserts are also such a good idea. . . everyone loves to be sweet (and delicious!)
