Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Unexpected Problem

August 23rd, 2007 @ 2:54 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

Crapbag. I got this email this morning:

Hi Miss Kiwi,

I’ve just been notified that your rubber stamp will not ship today. Unfortunately there have been some problems with manufacturing equipment, which won’t be fixed until Monday. Therefore, your stamp won’t be ready to ship until Monday (possibly Tuesday).

I sincerely apologize for the delay of your order. We normally have a fast turnaround, and this is an unusual circumstance. If you would like to continue with your order, I can apply a $10.00 discount to your credit card. If you want to cancel your order, you’re welcome to do so. Please advise how you’d like to proceed.

Regards,
Amy
Wilshire Graphic Press

So I’m going to have to address and assemble all invites without putting our address on them - having to wait until next week to do that. They are being very nice about it, offering me $10.00 off the stamp, which is quite a sizable amount compared to the actual bill.

I decided to wait it out, since I don’t think there is enough time for me to order a new one to be received by Monday. It sucks, but I should have gotten it earlier, even though the shipping should have been perfect, since I ordered it last week.

Oh well - I’ll get the stamp when it comes. :)

i was going to say run to an office supply store and get one made while you wait!

but after looking at their website it seems that wouldn’t be nearly as pretty as what you’ve got coming.

you’re right, wait it out :)

weddings teach us patience i’m learning.

At least you get the discount! There will probably be something else to take up your time, so no worries while you wait for the stamp to arrive.

Yeeeah that does suck. :-( But it’s just an extra couple days, so it shouldn’t really matter in the long run! Is it possible to apply the $10 credit towards overnight shipping or something?

Miss Kiwi, how many weeks before the wedding are you sending out — or hoping to send out — your invites? Did you already send out STDs?

Hi Shelby!

Well, I sent out STDs to a lot of people, but since Mr. Kiwi had no idea what faculty would still be remaining at his school, we didn’t send any to them.

My caterer needs the final count a month before the wedding day (November 3, 2007) so the RSVP date is September 29th. Looks like we’ll be mailing them out a month before the RSVP date, and two months and 6/7 days before the wedding. :)

hi miss kiwi, my wedding date is in oct. and heck well, i sent my invites out pretty much a week before the rsvp’s were due. i really felt bad about it, but you know what, small potatoes, right? those who will come, will come and those who have to think about it, well, i’ll be calling them eventually… and you’re so very early anyway, so you can totally afford to wait til next week. just sip some [insert favorite cocktail] this weekend and chillax! 8)

I used them for my embosser and LOVED their service! I say it’s worth the wait and at least they made it worth your time.

It sounds like you’re in great shape! I was bad and sent my invites out just 2 weeks before the RSVP deadline (which is really a fake internal deadline that buillds in some time for me to hunt down stragglers before the REAL deadline for the caterer).
