Mrs. Kiwi's Picture
Mrs. Kiwi, Los Angeles Age and Occupation in 06: 27, Bookkeeper Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, P.E. Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!
About Mrs. Kiwi

Naps and Knives

August 24th, 2007 @ 3:18 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

After the last couple days of computer crap (finally got the computer back, but we lost the disk to load the printer on the computer!), stressful wedding deliveries, and frantic guest list making, I printed my reception cards in the office, with the plan of cutting them at work also.

Then it got to be 4:00pm. I wanted to go home, as I had a headache. So, I grabbed the trusty guillotine-style paper trimmer from the back room, wiped the rust off of it, and hauled the thing home. I cleared a space on my coffee table, and prepared to do some work. Trying to get situated, I turned on People’s Court (I love this show, don’t hate me) and poured a large glass of water and grabbed a cookie. Woofie climbed onto the couch next to me, and we fell asleep. At the time, I still had a pounding headache, and the nap was a blessing.

When I woke up at 6:30, I took Woofie out and allowed the slight breeze to energize my still sleepy brain. Finally, at about 7pm, I got to trimming the 42 pages of reception cards, three cards per sheet of vellum. I have to tell you guys- I have a newfound respect for all people who DIY. My back is killing me from hunching over that trimmer for an hour and a half.

Sadly, it wasn’t until my last 4 sheets that I decided, “Why don’t I do these in groups of two?”. You wouldn’t believe how much faster that was. For the last four sheets. *sigh* Not a brain trust, right here. After I did all the basic trimming, I took my trusty X-acto blade and trimmed the rest of the small slices of cream vellum still poking out from the lines.

After stamping all the invites with the correct postage, and getting my return address stamp, I’m almost completely done with the invites. Hallelujah!!

i hear ya, kiwi.

i’m trying like mad to get these invites done but my oh so helpful family members keep saying things like ‘oh hey remember so & so from when you were two days old? he opened the door for me once. he was nice, send him an invitation.’

glad you weren’t napping with knives tho, the title had me worried for a second. ;)

i second the online software - just search for “printer drivers” and download the appropriate one, and voila you can print at home again!
