It’s Not That Kind of Video

August 27th, 2007 @ 10:31 am by Mrs. Snow Pea

4. Wes Jones - A true artist

It has been said that you don’t remember how things actually happen, but you remember how you think they happened. No one remembers the details. No one remembers what they ate or that the font on the program didn’t match the font on the invitation. What is memorable are the feelings associated with such a happy event. This being the case, we wanted a video that would transcend and capture the essence of our friendship and love.

We also went through the debate about whether or not to have a videographer. If they were anything like the ones you see on America’s Funniest Home Videos, then no thank you! We didn’t even budget for a videographer and steered our budget towards an awesome photographer. After some research, I realized how technology and talented film majors have developed wedding videography into an Art! And that’s how we want to be remembered!

Obtrusive videographers and shakey dark videos have left brides running to the hills. All the equipment that Wes needed to shoot with fit into his arms. No gigantic cameras. No long black cables to trip over. No bright beaming light like you’re about to get abducted by aliens. No stopping you to tell you to pose and smile. Mr. Snow Pea kept saying how he was *there*, but *not there*. Our guests even said how amazed at how fast he was at covering everything and yet you didn’t even notice he was there.

Where’s Wes? Can you find him?

On the wedding day, Wes was on time, precise, professional, well spoken, and behind the scenes. Wes was always aware of what was going on and knew what to do and where to go. I didn’t have to give him any direction. He was very flexible and just went with the flow. Wes even arrived *extra* early and took an *additional* trip to Mr. Snow Pea’s hotel to film him getting ready. I had no idea that he did that! He did it on his own account to get good footage. Wes was all about capturing the moments to make sure he was satisfied with the film he was producing for us.

In addition, Saint Patrick’s had a lot of restrictions on the photographer and videographer. They were limited as to where to stand and when they are allowed to come towards (but not into) the altar area. Wes had no problems with it and I gave him the okay to do everything in his power to capture the shots he needed less getting thrown out of the church, hurt or arrested. lol

They were also not allowed tripods. We interviewed many talented videographers and Wes was the only one who could do it free hand without a problem. If you see watch some of his demos, you can see how incredibly steady he is. He’s just gifted that way because we noticed he also had a very steady walk. Poor Wes is being analyzed to the bone here!

All I can say is I can’t wait to see our video! I know it won’t be one of those videos that get boxed away and never seen again until you have grandchildren.

Mrs. Snow Pea, I noticed that your train was a little long even after it was bustled. Did it pose any problems? My train is also long enough that it’s not completely off the ground when bustled and I worry about stepping on it.

Mrs. Snow Pea it looks like your dress touched the ground even when bustled. Did this pose any problems for you? My train is long enough that it will drag on the ground a little when bustled, and I’m worried I’m going to step on it. Thanks!

Cool! How much did you pay for Wes? I need to see how I can budget in a videographer!

Wes is going to be our photographer as well! And, we will also be having Henry as our photographer.

Interesting tidbit. During our initial visit with Henry, he told us that he had recently taken an interest in Super 8 film. My betrothed and I gave him the website for Wes Jones. He told us that he was going to stay up all night looking at his clips (haha).

A couple of days later, we met with Wes, and he told us that a man named Henry Chan had recommended him to another couple. My FI and I made sure he knew to whom this credit was due. (We nudged him for a discount but to no avail…haha.)

Ok. This is way long. On another note, you look gorgeous!
