Tick Tock…..

August 29th, 2007 @ 5:16 pm by Mrs. Onion

It’s final crunch time — I’m getting married in 10 days, but we are leaving for Vermont in 8 days so I basically have a week left to nail down all the details. Here’s what’s on tap for me:

1) Finalizing our flower plan (just dropped Dana from Fresh Floral Design Studio an email). Because we are having 20+ less people than we’d invited/planned on, we had some money left over for pew decorations like these:

From Martha Stewart Weddings

Galvanized Tins we’ll be using2) Finalize music for the ceremony (trying to decide on the recessional song with Brendan Burns). We’re debating between “The Lucky One” by Alison Krauss a little more upbeat, or “Wouldn’t it be nice” by the Beach Boys. What to do, what to do??

3) Finalizing the menu and head count for our rehearsal dinner at Taste of Burlington

4) Same thing for our reception at Adrianas. Ooh, I just got our “mini-moo” cards back from our wonderful calligrapher (Michele Clark, more to come on her later) and they look great. Engagement photos (by Daria Bishop) on one side and guests name calligraphed (yes I know that’s not really a word, but it should be) on the back. Check it out:

5) Finalize our marzipan pear cake with Alison at Mirabelles.

I won’t bore you with the rest of the details — plus if I do I won’t have time to do them. :) Once all that is done, we can print print print — our menus, our programs and our welcome booklets for our OOT (out of town) guests — which is all of them.

All the last minute details are coming together and I am feeling excited and fluttery — I can’t find a better word. Not nervous, just fluttery!

Miss Corn, how are you doing?? Any other brides getting married this weekend or next? How are you all holding up?

Me, you & Miss Corn are date triplets! =) I’m not getting that fluttery feeling yet. I don’t think its hit me that its coming up so soon!

Miss Onion - I’m having a really tough time with my ceremony music. Are you using a recording or are you having live musicians? If live, who/what? Thanks!

I’m getting married in 10 days too. Can’t wait!! Only thing left to do is finalize the seating arrangements. This is the biggest headache ever!! With 295 people, we can not please everyone! Let’s all pray for decent weather.

Ah Miss Emerald — I didn’t know we were all date twins! I’m in a bit of denial myself I think. I just hope that I can “get with it” and be present for the next 10 days, or at least the wedding day so I don’t feel like a fly on the wall.

jlb07 - We’ve hired a Boston based guitarist, Brendan Burns (www.brendanburns.com). Check out my post “Better Together…Yes we are!” for more on Brendan. http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/07/13/better-together-yes-we-are. I will post again with out final selections soon if that helps - GL!

4 days out and I’m excited, but still a bit overwhelmed with projects. I’ve started to let go and let it be- what gets done gets done. I have a feeling no one will notice but me anyway!

3 more wake ups for me! All that’s left on the list are a bunch of deliveries, and maybe a few phone calls…..and PICK UP MY DRESS. (Can’t forget that one :) )

Good luck with all your last minute details!

I’m 16 days out, and I’m a bit overwhelmed trying to wrap up wedding details and do the work I’m paid for! :) Plus we have weddings the next two weekends.

I can’t wait to see your pics!

9/9/07!!!! almost here!!!

we were up until 1AM printing programs and menus yesterday so we can have a nice pile ready for assembly when my FMIL and FSIL come over to help. still need to print out photos and years for our tablecards, finish half the out of town bags, finish designing the welcome packet, print ID cards for the favors (we have 3 kinds), finish our newsletter, wrap groomsmen gifts and write cards for the bridal party, make the parent gifts, and put together everything to bring to the caterer and the church!!!!

but otherwise, really really excited!!!!!

FI is so sweet, i put up on facebook that i was marrying my bestest friend in 10 days and he saw it and teared up. at work. :-D not that i like making guys cry or anything.

good luck with all your final planning!!!

Go for the Beach Boys! That Allison Krauss song is so sad! (I spent my life looking for that someone that makes me feel like you do/and now you tell me that you’re going to leave me/but darling I just can’t let you).

cubangirl — we did choose the beach boys song. brendan called us last night and we had a little “phone concert.” either way they’d both be without lyrics and no one will know the lyrics to the allison krauss song. but the beach boys was just sooo happy and everyone will recognize it! thanks for the opinion.

I’m a little slow—-whats a MINI MOO?
they look adorable, but what are they used for.

Miss Onion says:

staceyS — mini moo cards are the best thing ever. http://www.moo.com. they are a UK based printing company and the cards were first created as little calling cards, but you can use them for anything you like. i decided to use them as place cards tied to lavender bundles as you saw in my post.

since i bought mine i’ve encouraged many other brides on theknot to check them out — where ever your imagination takes you is the answer. tags on OOT bags, favor labels, inserts with your wedding website in invitations, include your photographer’s website where your proofs can be viewed , a little “thank you” — whatever you want! they are about 1/2 business card size (see their exact sizing on their website). it’s the best $19.99 i have spent on the wedding — bang for your buck for sure!

Miss Corn says:

Goodness I am sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier…very. long. sordid. story that includes me no longer having a laptop so I had to wait until Mr Corn came home from his business trip before having any internet access!! Luckily, ALL of my wedding stuff is on an external hard drive, so I didn’t lose any of it.

I am not freaking at all about the wedding…just the manyh other ‘life’ events that seem to be threatening to ruin our day. But in the end, we will be married, and that’s all that matters :)
