About Mrs. Cherry Blossom

… and another 831349016548941067 more things to go ….

A while back, we booked our videographer! Woo HOO! Another huge sigh of relief. Videography was always a semi-question mark on our list (more so on Mr. CB’s than mine, but I was kinda okay with forgoing it if the budget didn’t allow for it.) I’m huge on photography, pictures, visuals…. and especially since I am working hard to make sure we have a fun, memorable, and detailed wedding, it’s naturally important to me to have the memories to flip through a million bajillion times again afterwards (which my girls can vouch for).

I met Monster Crayons last October at my friend’s wedding. They did an amazing job of Same Day Editing of my friends’ morning wedding ceremony so that they could later play it for the whole reception. It reminded me of a great music video that brought tears to my eyes. I wasn’t engaged, but I was taking notes so it was no surprise that I contacted them shortly after getting engaged. They are really affordable and are definitely willing to work with you on your needs. The biggest things I was looking for :

  • coverage - because everyone’s wedding is different, they basically cover you for your whole ceremony and reception and up until 30 mins after people start dancing, and they always have 2 manned cameras
  • smooth filming/steady hands- I’ve seen one too many videos where even after post editing, they included clips of when the cameramen spun the camera around to capture a moment. From the several videos I’ve reviewed, I have yet to see some without the camera shaking or dizziness that occurs from watching
  • price - definitely affordable. Their prices start at $1499 and they include the ceremony and reception, highlights, and a DVD for each person in your wedding party! You have the option to customize your package and add more coverage for different things like bride or groom prep, on site editing, etc.
  • communication - I worked with Arneil de Vera who is the owner, and he’s been amazing at responding quickly. He’s been great to work with us and our needs since we moved our budget around to book him for both days.

If you are considering videography, you should definitely consider contacting Arneil at Monster Crayons, please tell him that Ms. Cherry Blossom sent you. I’ve referred two of my friends from HS, and we all got to enjoy the friends promo - so $100 was knocked off each of our packages. From what I’ve heard from the first friend that just got married, he was very pleased with their service and nonintrusive manner the day of.

Here are more promos that they are offering - Monster Crayons Promotional Deals. If you’d like more information and instant viewing of their work/highlight videos of weddings they’ve done, check out Wedding Video Highlights, and you can also request them to send you a full DVD version here Wedding Demo Request.

Good luck! And let me know how you like them if you plan to check them out!

Monster Crayons did our wedding as well. I just got married so I don’t have my video yet. Their deals were great. I felt they were totally unobtrusive.

oh no! not, monster crayons. they don’t have the best track record once the wedding is over. my friend is STILL waiting for her video. how long ago was the wedding? 13 MONTHS AGO!!! they keep giving her lame excuses but still no video. and, they’re impossible to get a hold of. hopefully you’ll have a better experience but just wanted to let you know about my friends’ experience. watch out.

They’ve gotten really mixed reviews on the Northern California Knot board. Like PP said, it seems they’re communication really lacks once the wedding is over. Hope it turns out better for you.

I hired Monster Crayons for my July 14th wedding and my video is supposed to be ready by next week. So far, they have been very responsive…Arneil is awesome to work with!

Monster Crayons is really horrible. They do have lame excuse after lame excuse of no correspondence after the wedding. Customer services is an F because it is so hard to get a hold of them and they give so many empty promises. I’ve been waiting for my DVD way after the promised “4 week turnaround time”.

Please be careful. What is strange is that I’ve looked over reviews in past years and they’ve always had unhappy brides EACH YEAR. And mostly all have the same complaint - waiting for the final product. Does Monster Crayons take a vacation every year?

We worked with David and he was professional and arrived early to set up. He was very responsive to questions and kept us informed of his progress. He was able to get the highlight video (a three minute snapshot of our day) within two weeks of the wedding (which was wonderful to see), and a proof of the full video a month after our day. We supplied the music ahead of time, which helped with the turnaround time. We will be getting the final proof soon and we are very happy with what we see based on the editing comments we asked for. David has been very quick to respond and he is very accommodating. We would recommend him to anyone!
