Be Our Guest… Part I

August 30th, 2007 @ 4:23 pm by Mrs. Orchid

It’s countdown time for me - I have but one month ’til my wedding. Eek! So much to do so little time! My RSVPs had been coming en masse, but now it’s down to a slow trickle and I still have those that we are hounding down. To those that have written a little ditty, or a congrats, or blessings on our RSVPs, I thank you. But those that didn’t write anything… booo booooooo to you! :( When I pull the cards outta my mailbox and I see nothing written on it, I literally “booo” aloud.

I’ve been putting my RSVPs in a scrapbook that I will leave at the sign-in table for people to peruse through when they come in. Then they can see what they, and others wrote, and of course to those that didn’t write anything… feel like a loser for not writing anything! But I’m glad you’re attending! Be Our Guest... Part I : wedding invitations Winky025 winky025

Here’s just a few of them I took a picture of when I started adding them to the scrapbook. I plan to decorate them with some stickers/stamps to make it look a bit more lively. Stay tuned for Part II !!~

I know, I know, I’ve totally been slacking at blogging, but I’ve been so busy. Not only with wedding planning, but my job is also relocating to NYC from Long Island. But yes yes, as far as posting I’ve been a total slacker. I’m surprised the girls haven’t changed my name/icon to Slacker Bee! Be Our Guest... Part I : wedding invitations Silly049 silly049

That is a great idea! In fact, that’s the only idea I’ve seen so far that justifies the trees and postage required for paper RSVPs. We’re doing phone/e-mail RSVPs because I just can’t see many of our friends leaving us fun messages, but I’d never thought it would be a fun scrapbook keepsake. Now I wish I had thought of it too.

i know what you mean about getting excited to read the RSVP comments. i, too, get disappointed when there’s nothing written. the worst is when its a decline and not one single comment. come on now, at least say congrats or something! oh well. :P

i love that you asked them to comment! i wish i had thought of that beforehand! i’m gonna try to incorporate that in the cocktail hour instead of a guestbook.

I love the idea - but don’t boo us poor non-writers! I’m not married yet, so when people ask for words of wisdom and such, I would feel like a complete idiot writing something down - how the heck would I know! Even worse for baby shower invites!!!

Although I do always comment on the RSVP if I’m declining explaining and saying congrats.

If I were a guest I wouldn’t want my RSVP note to the couple on display for everyone to read, unless advised in advance they would be shared; I would have presumed it was a personal message to the couple.
