Trash The Dress Bash

August 31st, 2007 @ 11:12 am by Mrs. Orchid

I took off from work early a couple weeks ago to make it to a Trash the Dress bash in Atlantic City.  I drove 2 hours from NYC to meet the group there at 5:00pm, and I got there just in time.  About 11 brides showed up where the famous Mark Eric and Jason Dominguez greeted us. We were taken up into a suite to get changed and ready for the shoot. It was lively to say the least in the suite, with all the girls running around getting ready, and doing hair and make up. There was also a camera crew there from Germany documenting the bash.

When we were all ready, the brides paraded down in their gowns through the casino and to the boardwalk where the photographers were waiting patiently for us to arrive. We caused quite a scene on the casino floor, with a lot of guys asking us to marry them as we walked by (really old gross ones too! eww). We walked out of the hotel doors onto the boardwalk and were greeted by a roar of applause by the photographers waiting outside. I was in shock - I didn’t know there would be so many photographers there! We were paired up with 4-5 photographers to each bride and we were off! We started taking pictures inside the hotel and worked our way out. If there was ever a time where I felt like a movie star, this was it. I had 4 cameras on me at all times.

It was extremely foggy that evening. I’m talking about 10 feet visibility, and at first I was a bit upset by it because most of the TTD pics I’ve seen were in bright and sunshiny settings. But later I realized how it added an extra something to the tone and mood of the pictures. My group of photographers were great! They made me feel at total ease in front of the camera and I was able to let loose and have fun. I trudged through sand, climbed up on a small pier - not to mention I laid down on it and it was full of green algae - I got wet in the water…. all in all I had tons of fun.

Here are some sneak peek pictures from the shoot given to me by Arthur & Katya of Story Motion Studios who were wonderful to work with, and were sweet enough to provide me with these to show you while I wait for the rest of the photos to arrive.

Oh and as for my dress? When I came home I rinsed it out with some mild detergent in the tub and hung it dry. I think it’s ready for another TTD shoot. It’s as good as new again!

Arthur and Katya are some the best photographers on the east coast! My husband I are lucky enough to have our album featured on their website :) They were so much fun and really captured the spirit of our wedding! They are worth every penny and are a joy to work with. I highly recomend them to any couple looking for high quality, personlized photos!

Wow, looks fun, but I don’t totally understand what drives people to destroy something so expensive and beautiful. For instance, I just opened up ebay this morning and saw that same dress for sale for about $3400!

I think I’m a little confused. Is this the dress that you’ll be getting married in, or did you buy a separate dress just to trash it?

Beautiful, hot & sexy!!! Wow!

I have a question for those of you who have pix in this style (the wet, sexy, lotsa leg, heavy smooching kind of stuff): what did your moms think?

I’m just curious…we got some of our pre-wedding “portraits” back, and I sent my mom the link, and she said, “nice, but I thought some were pretty risque.” And ours weren’t even close to as hot as Miss Orchid’s! The raciest thing was you could see pretty high up my thigh on a couple. I know the photos are for hubs and me, and all that matters is that we love them, but I feel sort of weird that my mom isn’t crazy about them. I guess her generation isn’t used to the photojournalistic, initimate moments style that is more common now, and that I love. Thoughts?

hey, my comment didn’t show…trying again:

Miss Orchid, those are beautiful, hot, sexy photos! Wow!!!

For those of you who have pix in the same type of style (hot, wet, sexy, lotsa bare skin and heavy smooching type of stuff), what did your moms say?

We just got the chance to see some of our our pre-wedding “portrait” shots, which aren’t nearly as hot-cha-cha-cha as Miss Orchid’s. But I asked Mom what she thought, and she said, “nice, but I thought some of them were kind of risque.” The raciest thing was that you could see pretty high up my thigh on a few shots, but that’s it. I know that the only thing that matters is that hubs and I love these photos, but I feel a little sad that my mom doesn’t seem to be into them as much as I had hoped. I think maybe she is of a generation that’s not as comfortable with the photojournalistic style and intimate nature that’s more common now? Thoughts? Other mom reactions? Did it hurt your feelings if your parents didn’t really like your photos?

Hey Mrs. Orchid,
If you go again, let me know. I don’t live too far and can meet up with you…still considering whether or not I want to trash my dress…hmm I know exactly where those bamboo “plants” are. We were just there!

re destroy the dress? not unless oil or grease is involved. most modern wgs can take a lot of abuse and still come out good as new!
