“Maybe some women aren’t meant to be tamed. Maybe they need to run free until they find someone just as wild to run with them.” (SATC)
Yes, I’d like to say that I want to open every post with a Sex & the City quote, but I don’t know if I can quite make it.
How did Mr. Caramel and I meet? Like I mentioned before, we met in college. However, he was just a mutual friend for awhile. He played guitar and sang for our college church group and I lead the dance team. After graduating, there was this tension between us. We ended up talking and he told me that he had liked me for a long time (I was in total shock - this guy seemed so anti-girls!) So after deciding to give it a shot for 2 weeks, I felt this huge wave of “wow, I never knew that he had this side to him before!”
As a friend, Mr. Caramel was a very serious person and always had this mysterious, quiet quality about himself. He hated it when people tried to throw him birthday things, hated large groups and was an introvert. As for me - I went clubbing all the time, LOVED throwing myself the biggest parties and surrounded myself with really loud people and activities. Some people say we had nothing in common - except each other. I would say that our common interests are in the arts, since we’re both creative and artistic in our own ways.
One thing you should know - I’m Mr. Caramel’s VERY FIRST girlfriend! Yup. He’s marrying the first girl he’s ever kissed or even hugged in public. As for me, I’ve been dating since the 6th grade. I’ve been cheated on, dumped, walked over and I’ve done the same to others. But Mr. Caramel– he was definitely different. I never had to worry whether he loved me enough or whether he would cheat on me. Even though I hate chick flicks and became a huge man-hater during college, I had to say that he changed that side of me. I have found the one who committed, believed and wanted me so bad that he had to marry me!
So cheesy, I know…. I would have rolled my eyes about 5 years ago if I read what I just wrote.
Sooo…. that’s how we got together! Let’s just say that the word “compromise” is our best friend. I go to his MUSE concerts and he goes to my gallery openings. I’ll let him play his U2 as long as I get to bust out my Pussycat Dolls. He’ll also just smile and nod whenever I talk about how I like dancing to “Lean like a Cholo”(or some other ridiculously named pop song). Inside I know his musical side thinks pop culture is SO stupid, which I can’t really deny.
In fact, I’ve decided to embrace our differences and use it to our advantage. For our table numbers, each table will not only have a number, but they will have one famous person that is VERY “us.” For example: Table 1 is the Britney Spears’ table. I imagine my guestbook people saying “You’re at Bono’s table, Table 2.”
What’s a post without pictures? Here are some pictures of my e-ring. I really liked the antique look, and he had this custom made. I took these shortly after we got engaged.

And where he proposed! We call it Pondering Places in Malibu.

And now I’m off for my Bridal Shower/Bachelorette Party weekend in VEGAS! Ciao everyone!
