We’re launching a new feature today called “Your Wedding” where we’ll get to know a little bit about the details of you, the reader’s wedding. We’ll ask you to share various tidbits like which vendors you’re using, which traditions you’re incorporating, etc. It’ll be a great way to have answers to commonly asked questions all in one place for anyone to go back and reference. Sound good?
This new feature was actually inspired by a thread started by Jillibean on the weddingbee boards where she asks how you chose your wedding date, so thanks Jillibean!
Let’s start with something a little fun:
Who designed your wedding dress?

I’m giving mini reed-diffusers… I found this great lady on Etsy who custom makes them. She has every and any scent you can think of, and she will even make it if she doesn’t already have it!
We are giving boxes of Junior Mints wrapped in some pretty paper with a moo.com card that includes a picture of our two Yorkies and a favourite love quote! We LOVE Junior Mints (we’re big fans of Seinfeld too!)
LOL - did I just imagine that the first question was “what is your favour” - I’m seriously losing it if I did. My dress is by Moonlight ![]()
vera wang. it’s weird because at the beginning of wedding planning i said i would steer away from those expensive brand names. but once i tried on that vera, i knew i was in love. ![]()
sorry hamiharri - i changed the question from favors to weding dresses.
so I guess I’ll share too - my dress was designed by Anne Barge.
Originally, Justina McCaffrey Haute Couture, but I was able to find someone to make the dress I wanted to fit my body better for less! Glenda Pongiglione (S.F.) has been wonderful to work with and is incredibly detail oriented. A designer friend recommended her to me and I would highly recommend working with her to get exactly what you want and more.
Cymbeline Paris, much more than I wanted to spend but I adore my dress.
Henry Roth - and he no longer is making wedding dresses (per my understanding) so I feel very lucky to have got my dream dress. Off the shoulder, campagne/ivory, beading at the waist, I love it!
a local (Hawaii) designer, Anne Namba (she does one-of-a-kind dresses that are made from kimono fabric)
Justina McCaffrey Haute Couture. I happen to be at Klienfelds in NYC during a trunk show of hers. I was lucky enough to have a consultation directly with her and her staff who fussed all over me!
Paloma Blanca and Simphony Bridal (I have two weddings) the Simphony is a very, very inexpensive version of a Priscilla of Boston design 2902…gorgeous..
Casablanca (I wonder if you’re more prone to answer if you have a “designer” dress…)
Pronovias! (My dress was the St Patrick brand, which is a lower-end Pronovias brand.)
Monique Lhuillier. I’m so drawn to her gowns. I was pretty lucky b/c I actually found the style I fell in love with at Saks for a great deal on preowned wedding dresses. Never in a million years did I think I would end up with any hint of lace on my dress…but lo and behold, my dress was ALL lace!
Sue Wong! Thank you Gossypia - you crazy cool shop in Alexandria, VA… where you can get your dress after walking up stairs full of day of the dead sculptures and frida khalo trinkets.
our cousin the designer!
it was modeled after my dream KP dress and was gorgeous!! ![]()
myself, remotely inspired by Melissa Sweet, and with the help of some McCall’s patterns…
Alfred Angelo. Style 1803, I think. I love it! It’s white and has cap sleeves, and is pulled on the side, so you won’t see it bunch up when I sit.
Also, I love that they have plus sizes and different lengths, even though they are $50 more for that. Still better than having it altered at the hem, where there’s all this pretty decorations.

Jacquelin Bridal style 9611 and I can’t wait for the day I get to wear it! ![]()
Mori Lee!

Makes my waist look tiny and flat. Phew!
~ Melanie
Elizabeth Fillmore. It was a sample sale find. I wish I could wear it again.
I designed my own wedding dress and had it made by a local woman. I didn’t even see it completed until 2 days before hand. It was perfectly me and our wedding.
Casablanca…
I need to get onto the new message boards, I am dying to see a real bride in my dress… Google images only pulls up the ‘casablanca’ model
i did! or rather i had a dress i LOVED - it was blue & knee-length, so i took it to a seamstress & asked her to make it in ivory and floor-length :)) the trickiest part was choosing fabric, i actually went to a bridal salon and tried on what might’ve been a thousand dresses before i came across silk mikado, which we used ![]()
My seamstress is copying the dress Audrey Hepburn wore in ‘Funny Face’!
Yours truly!
I’ve designed my gown, and I’ll be making it myself.
No pressure or anything…
Tried on Vera and all other greats…ended up at Kleinfelds with Monique Lhullier…I can’t wait to wear it this Saturday when I get married!
Maggie Sottero. I know it seems everyone and their mother had a Maggie grown, but I couldn’t help it — I tried it on, and that was that!
wai-ching.com. I got the yowying dress custom made with hand-dyed champagne silk and had red and orange embroidery in the center of the bodice. It was totally unique and I got tons of compliments.
(Mrs. Bee, any chance we could be allowed to post pictures of our dresses/favors, etc. as part of the comment on this particular post?)
I designed my own dress (with a little help from Priscilla of Boston). And a second dress was bought from David’s Bridal. The third was a Chinese cheongsam that was made by a local seamstress.
Forever Yours - It’s one of their silk charmeuse informals that we’re ordering in ivory and turning into a halter.
I kept my gown budget small in order to have letterpressed invitations and I’ve never regretted spending under $500 on my attire!
Bought an Amy Kuschel dress from 2007 on ebay and I’m going to see if it can work with some alterations. Otherwise I might see if I can afford one of the dresses from her SF salon – she’s my favorite by far.
I did! After trying on lots of dresses, I picked a style I liked, found a pattern to serve as a basis, and then as my mom sewed, she incorporated some of my favorite details from other dresses to create a one-of-a-kind dress.
J.Jennings - English designer. I was the first to try it on at Kleinfields!!! My mother was going to make my dress but I was totally knocked out by the dress when I tried it on.
Handmade for me out of silk crepe with a silk georgette overlay by a wonderful local designer, inspired by a Badgley Mischka bridesmaid dress. We got married in Italy and it narrowly escaped being confiscated by Italian Customs officials who thought I was trying to smuggle in a designer dress without paying the tariff!
Me! I’m wearing my granmother’s 57 year old gown and which I had re-created to fit my style. It came out so beautiful! I can’t wait to walk down the aisle in it in two weeks!
Mom! I sketched a design based on various aspects of a few dresses I tried on in stores and liked, and my Mom is making it.
Aw! I’m so glad something silly I wrote turned into such a cool feature. Props to Mrs. Bee and the Weddingbee gang!
I recently fell in love with a lace Paloma Blanca dress but it was way out of my price range so an awesome seamstress friend of my fiance offered to duplicate it for me for about $1,200 less. I can’t wait!
I got my wedding dress from White House, Black Market. It is a tea-length white cocktail. It’s pretty and only $99.
My friend is making one for me as a wedding gift! An empire waist silk chiffon gown (for a destination wedding). I have a white Jil Sander cocktail dress for the reception.
J.Crew! I lucked out by finding the perfect dress on sale for $99!!
Melissa sweet Sadie with dusty pink sash. trying to find the right veil!!!!!! yeaks!!!!!!
Vera Wang - $250 - From her bridesmaid collection on clearance
I couldn’t find anything that had everything I wanted, so I took bits and pieces of dresses and designed my own. Then I had it custom made by 1koo. It fits perfect, and looks great. I couldn’t be happier.
Emily! where and for how much did you get your paloma blanca 3802 for?? that is what i’m in search for! any chance you’d be selling it?!:) thanks
Love Monique Luo’s design.
Very feminine and unique!
It was at the last place I thought I would buy a dress *just cause I’m really picky* - David’s Bridal. It was also happen to be the very 1st dress that I tried on :). It’s #T9397 - and it fits really well with my beach wedding. Yay!
