About Mrs. Petunia

A Teardrop of Joy

September 6th, 2007 @ 5:30 pm by Mrs. Petunia

As regular Weddingbee readers probably already know, the Petunias have been pretty wishy washy about their invitations. Well, let’s face it: this Petunia is indecisive about pretty much everything. We had, however, somewhat made up our minds to go with this invitation from Wedding Paper Divas:

The colors matched our color palette exactly, the pricing was great, and we already knew from our Save the Date purchase that their customer service was to die for.

But then Holly Hatam of TearDrop came into our lives like a gift from heaven. She’d seen my postings and contacted me. I wrote her a bit more about our Monopoly theme and she came up with a design for some stationery for us.

I’d been anxiously awaiting her package and then this week it arrived! If it is not the most darling design ever, then I don’t know what is!

Well, we were sold. How could we not be? The price for invitations and all coordinating items is more expensive than for the Divas’ invitation, but of course, we’re talking letterpress for the invitations plus a custom design! And even so, considering that, I’d say the cost is quite reasonable. We’d been quoted other letterpress prices at a few thousands of dollars!

It’s a bit hard to imagine spending a good chunk of change on paper goods, but once Mr. Petunia and I decided to have a proper wedding and not just elope, we figured we might as well do it right. I can’t imagine we’ll have many opportunities to be able to share with our friends and families something so custom made to reflect “us,” and with such joy too.

We Petunias will be working with Holly over the days/weeks to come to tweak the design and color(s) for the actual wedding invitations. It’s been so amazing keeping in touch with Holly just this far, that I just know the entire design process is going to be a dream.

Thanks readers for all your ideas and feedback on the invitation issue — I hope the design will delight you, too!

Miss Petunia,

Off the subject, but I may be changing my location from NJ to South Florida. Was wondering if you had a list of reception sites you visited. I’m in Coral Springs and was thinking Boca/Delray Beach/Deerfield Beach/Ft. Lauderdale Las Olas. Also, the Museum of Art in Boca sounds phenomenal, but was hesistant about using a caterer and all the rentals/lights/extras that go with that.

Let me know if you have a chance. I’d soo appreciate it. :)

So Cute!! It doesn’t scream Monopoly but fits in with the theme perfectly.

Michelle — I sent you an email =)

Virginny: I will be emailing you shortly, too!

And Maggie: thanks for your comment — I love that they just hint at Monopoly, too! Now we have to see if we’ll keep the red for the invites (not one of our colors) or see how else we can play around with the design,
