Candle In The Wind

September 7th, 2007 @ 10:28 am by Mrs. Kiwi

I have decided to decorate our tables with votives, using them as a way to add a little “something” to our tables.

This is what will be the centerpiece (going for a golden/rusty glow), on a mirrored square (they are all out of rounds).

Another one

This is what we’re going to use: the glass hurricane vase, a golden colored candle and rust/gold ribbon (it looks orange in the pics) and marbles. There will most likely be more marbles and the ribbon may be placed differently. Now, I am torn about which votives to get.

Option One:

Clear Round Votives

Option Two

Round Frosted Votives

Option Three

Amber Colored Votives

Which votive do you like? Also on the table will be a mini pumpkin used to hold up the table name. The linens will be ivory, with ivory napkins and chair covers. On the chairs will be a rust colored sheet sash.

I vote for option three (amber colored). I think they would look beautiful with the centerpieces and add more warmth.

I like the amber ones too. I’d also consider not tying a bow in the rust-colored ribbon, but using a glue dot to hold it and make it a simple band around the hurricane. Makes the whole thing symmetrical from all sides. Maybe put a fall leaf where the join in the ribbon is, if you want some sort of decoration? I just think it looks more tailored.

i vote for the amber as well…did u think about using battery operated tealights…that way you dont have to keep lighting the candles…just a suggestion..cause thats what were doing…my wedding is about fall…so were gutting out little pumpkins and using them as the votive holder and placing the battery operated tealights in them to add a romantic glow…just an idea:)

Love the amber ones, gives it a little something and they will glow beautifully in that color too.

Amber. Definitely. I am using the Ikea hurricane as my centerpiece, too (filled with peaches and wrapped with a rust dupioni silk strip tied in a knot). Where are the amber votives from? They might complement my centerpiece nicely, also ;)

the clear or frosted ones might add that contrast to all the rust/orangey colors you already have with the ribbon, candle and pumpkins. But the amber ones are pretty.

i was just at a wedding where they had those amber colored votives and they added a very rich feeling to the table setting. plus they look more expensive and “custom” than plain white or frosted. trust me, get amber!!!

Definitely #3 - amber votives!

We are using a similar setup for our centerpieces - a large hurricane, tall “khaki” pillar candle, surrounded by coffee beans. Then, around that on the table, we are using small amber votives like above with tea lights. I set it up, and it looks beautiful together.

Can’t wait to see your finished product!
